Classic smash 'n grab football by L' pool. They got the first goal then just sat back, let Everton come at them, and whacked them with lightening fast breaks. Some of Everton's defending was laughable though.
the title race and top 4 race is wide wide open
Was that the first time Gerrard let a teammate take a penalty?
The goons have Ramsey and Gibbs to come back and Carzola to find the form of last year now he's fit so while I can't see them matching City, they should finish top three.
I dunno, I can see them getting caught up in the mix for 4th still. I said before that their away games against Liverpool and Soton were going to be telling for them. Now I look at it and if they beat Liverpool then fair enough, I can't see them finishing outside the top 3 but if not they're heading into bad form at the very worst time. In the 2 months after the Liverpool game they play United, Us, Chelsea, City, Bayern twice, Liverpool, Everton and more cup games if they progress. That's 8 big games in 8 weeks, plenty of opportunity for their momentum to be stopped.
Just take points off City and we'll be fine

Not our rivals but have to mention how impressive Palace have been since Pulis took over. Another clean sheet and Pulis will be grinning as he moves ahead of Stoke.
nah... they have been awful but are only 1 down...southampton needed to take more of the chances they made...3-1 to the goons at FT in my opinion

I'm not saying Pool didn't deserve the points, clearly they did. But they have also had a lot of luck in that Sewerage stayed with them, and you can forget all this 'we stood firm' rubbish until they stand firm against the media onslaught that a Real bid attracts. Also IMHO it's been lucky that they've scored first so often - I'd like to see their stats when they haven't. Of course people will argue that it's entirely skill that they score first but I think there's far more randomness going on here than people admit. Pundits (and its a human trait anyway) with so much time to fill are always making predictions based on trends that do not always exist, but are just a repeating pattern over a few matches. Every team tries to score first (unless they're playing for a bore draw), so it's not necessarily skill if you happen to meet a lot of teams on their bad day. Who would have predicted that Everton (or us) would be so bad on the day that Pool played them? Is is skill or is it luck? I think it's more luck of the fixtures than we think.

Good question, don't think I've ever seen Gerrard physically give the ball to someone else to take the penalty. Hope Sturridge practices before the WC!!
