Lot of reports saying Koulibaly is on his way to City for £72m... If true, I dread to think how much Pep has spent on that City back line over the years, gotta be close to around £300m-£350m.
Guardiola joined City in 2016. They've signed the following defenders during his tenure:
Zinchenko, Stones, Walker, Danilo, Mendy, La Porte, Sandler, Angelino, Cancelo and Porro.
They cost a little over £308m. He's also spent over £50m on goalkeepers.

The defenders that they had on the books when he joined were:
Sagna, Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Mangala, Otamendi, Denayer, Kolarov and Clichy.

Wouldn’t surprise me Smithy. I won’t ever knock Pep for the way his teams play but the amount he has to spend to perfect it is ridiculous.
One defence I've frequently heard is that he has a very thorough tactical approach, so it's not fair to suggest that he's incapable of coaching a team with the cheat codes engaged...which fails to explain why, if his tactical approach is so thorough, he can't coach the players at his disposal to follow it

That's the exact same criticism I've had about Steptonho for well over a decade

Well, the Wolves victory completely says goodbye to our season as far as Europe is concerned. But good luck to Wolves and Sheffield anyway!
If our players, injuries apart, hadn't decided to go on holiday, maybe we would have had a say.

On that point, there's a theory going about...

The theory says that, at some point in the last couple of years, somebody got into Eriksen's shell-like and suggested he run down his contract so he could get his Dream Move™ and get a nice little bonus for doing so...only to leave him hanging in the wind when the time came, as by that point they'd moved onto other targets and he'd already doused the Spurs bridge with a generous coating of petrol before he realised this

We're in no shape to play CL football next season.

The best thing that could happen is that we make the EL. It's something that won't drain our resources as badly, as we could use it to develop some younger players and we could just, possibly win it with a bit of luck.

I honestly think we have not much chance with the Europa League. We have to keep winning and others have to keep losing!!!
We've got to hope that our players will get hungry next season and do well in Poch's reserves tournaments.i.e FL and FA Cups. Improvement in the PL will help!!!!?

As of right now I think (could be wrong) we’re in a Europa spot, Smithy.

With City currently banned from Europe at the moment, 5th spot is now a CL spot. Therefore Wolves in 6th currently go into the Europa group stage and as City won the League Cup, 7th (us) goes into the qualifying round of Europa. 8th spot may also go into Europa qualifying too if one of the top four/ five win the FA Cup. This may change though if City win their appeal.

I think that’s how it works anyway, someone can correct me if I’m wrong.

I do hope we get Europa though, CL isn’t on my mind anymore as I can’t see us clawing back a 9 or 10 point deficit with 7 games to go. And as Brian said, it’ll be a good opportunity to give some games to younger players in spells - Sess, Skipp, Tanganga, Parrott, Clarke, Cirkin, White etc - whilst also being a competition we could win if the players and staff took it seriously. It may also be our best route back into the CL as well seeing as City and Pool are much stronger than us at the moment whilst Chelsea are spending on quality signings and Utd are bound to add some more too.

If the city ban is upheld (it won't) we are 7 points off Wolves in 5th with a game in hand. So only 4 points. Both Wolves and Utd don't look like dropping points at the moment, but we are mathematically still in it.

Utd have got a relatively calm run in but have you seen Wolves?
The likes of Chelsea, Sheff U, Everton and Burnley.
Not saying we will catch them as we also have tough games but I definitely see them dropping points.

So the FA Cup semi finals are still being held at Wembley, if United draw the winners of City v Newcastle why would you make both clubs travel to London? Its not for the extra capacity or the extra gate receipts surely if that is the draw they should play somewhere in the north.

Remember the time way back when we had an FA Cup semi against the Nomads...at Old Trafford?
