Well fair play to Liverpool. Worthy champions, some of their football has been sublime this season. History will tell whether this one feels tainted with an * because of the lockdown and everything that has happened, but I doubt the fans care one bit right now. Between them and City the bar has been set very high over the last few seasons for winning the PL title. We shall have to see who can step up to the plate next season. Their fans are still annoying as **** though
Dont see why the lockdown taints it tbh, they were 20 odd points ahead before the lockdown started, though people will probably try to argue it
Just remind them that the only reason the season wasn't cancelled was because the owner of The Sun wanted to exploit them for his own financial benefit...
In all honesty there is no *, it was won before the lockdown. Hide this if any of the pool fans come over though.
Yeah I'm not saying it does myself but you never know what consensus will be reached in the next few years. I think they deserve the win, but I would never tell any of my mates who support Liverpool that myself, because it's too amusing to wind them up. hbic has had a fair stab at it above haha
It deserves an asterisk * against it if only for the influence VAR has had on Pool`s season, it is no coincidence that the introduction of VAR has seen Pool end up so many points clear, it is the fine moments of `benefit of doubt` that can make the biggest difference when it comes to accumulating points, at times they have played with 13 men rather than 12. A perfect storm for The Dippers in many ways, good luck with injuries, favourable refereeing on the pitch and off it, key injuries to their main rivals and all their other rivals in a transitional state. Liverpool FC, VAR and Covid-19 champions 2020*
I would say that Pool had far more than their fair share of dodgy decisions in their favour last season as well. But I agree that VAR is something that will continue this "dominance" because it adds a scientific veneer to decisions - as if there is no subjectivity in it. As we all know, what they choose to review and what they ignore, and how they interpret it is as biased as what happens on the field. I'm also not sure how the line is drawn (that they use for offsides etc), is it put there by a person or is their some kind of science behind it? After all, if there is any human input in deciding where the line is drawn then any conclusions drawn from it are pretty pointless. I like your "13 men rather than 12" comment, sums it up quite nicely. We could perhaps it that for all such discussions about VAR and Liverpool / Citeh / ManU.
It doesn't mate, just the final straw to clutch at for the null and voiders Morning @Billy The Yid @vimhawk
Well done - Sucky, I may have had the occasional dig, but no one can really deny that you were worthy winners I am sure you don't need telling to enjoy it but ....enjoy
In reality it is a somewhat faux league title, that carries about as much merit as a Ben Johnson gold medal. It will be remembered for all the wrong reasons and for what it is, the improper league title won after changing the rules of the competition part way through. A tainted sham of a title under awful circumstances, a meaningless and hollow charade, devoid of any shred of integrity or merit. As for those abhorrent scenes in Covidpool yesterday, and the mindless congregation of glory supporters who brazenly flouted social distancing rules, what a slap in the face for the brave NHS staff who have worked so tirelessly, with countless Morons putting a synthetic game of football before public health and safety.
Oh joy, the Lunatic Fringe are out in force today with all manner of ignorant claptrap, not least saying that Levy was too cheap to pay for Dybala ...you know, the same Dybala whose deal got sunk by image rights after we'd agreed a ****ing fee, something which can't be made to go away by chucking a couple of million quid extra at the problem? For some reason that little detail keeps getting ignored And don't get me started on the idea he didn't back Poch last summer when he sanctioned the moves for Lo Celso, Ndombele and Sessegnon - you know, the three players that were top of Poch's wishlist...
