Palace probably have the easiest run-in. Their next 2 games are against mid-table sides with little to play for. Then they go to Stoke but finish the season hosting probably-already-relegated-West Brom. So I reckon they'll be ok. Swansea could yet be dragged back into it. They go to the Etihad next and still face Chelsea at home. And their last two games are against Stoke and Southampton. Could be make or break by then and anything can happen. The one characteristic the bottom 5 or 6 sides have in common is their pathological inability to hold on to a lead. We aren't really seeing them being put to the sword every weak by vastly superior opposition. They just cannot hold on for love or money (or love of money). Stoke have become the same since Hughes left. No longer getting pasted but dropping points everywhere by the odd goal or two. It has to be said that from Stoke all the way up to Bournemouth, it really is much of a muchness in terms of overall quality.
Quite happy with that result to be honest. Keeps Stoke nicely in the bottom three and a win for West Ham would've near enough guaranteed them survival and I want them sweating 'til the final day.
So, this summer, after a World Cup and before a PL season, we will take part in the International Champions Cup. If there's ever been anything that looks more like a first tentative step towards a European Super League in the history of forever, I haven't seen it. Games are played in the US, Singapore and a weird selection of locations in Europe. I fancy the Bayern v PSG game. I spent a few days in Klagenfurt in Austria back over 30 years ago. There's an amazing lake full of crystal clear mountain water and Austro-German women sporting hairy armpits These are the games July 20 - Sevilla v Benfica - Zurich - 7.05pm July 21 - Man City v Dortmund - Chicago - 2.05am July 21 - Bayern v PSG - Klagenfurt - 5.05pm July 22 - Liverpool v Dortmund - Charlotte - 9.05pm July 26 - Atletico v Arsenal - Singapore - 12.35pm July 26 - Juventus v Bayern - Philadelphia - 12.05am July 26 - Dortmund v Benfica - Pittsburgh - 1.05am July 26 - Man City v Liverpool - New Jersey - 1.05am July 26 - Roma v Tottenham - San Diego - 3.05am July 26 - AC Milan v Man Utd - Pasadena - 4.05am July 28 - Arsenal v PSG - Singapore - 12.35pm July 28 - Chelsea v Sevilla - Warsaw - 4.05pm July 28 - Benfica v Juventus - New Jersey - 6.05pm July 28 - Man Utd v Liverpool - Ann Arbor - 10.05pm July 29 - Bayern v Man City - Miami - 12.05am July 29 - Barcelona v Tottenham - Pasadena - 4.05am July 30 - PSG v Atletico - Singapore - 12.35pm August 1 - Man Utd v Real Madrid - Miami - 1.05am August 1 - Tottenham v AC Milan - Minneapolis - 1.35am August 1 - Barcelona v Roma - Arlington - 3.05am August 1 - Chelsea v Inter - Gothenburg - 6.05pm August 4 - Arsenal v Chelsea - Stockholm - 7.05pm August 4 - Real Madrid v Juventus - Washington DC - 11.05pm August 5 - AC Milan v Barcelona - Santa Clara - 1.05am August 7 - Inter Milan v Sevilla - Lecce - 6.05pm August 8 - Real Madrid v Roma - New Jersey - 3.05am August 12 - Atletico v Inter Milan - Madrid - 7.05pm Looks about right as candidates for the new non-UEFA Cash Bonanza League. Just as well that we've NFL to ensure that our stadium gets the usage.
Alonso gets charged over the stamp on Shane Long. Not sure what’s more disgusting - the assault on Longs lower leg or the fact that useless twat Mike Dean was literally looking straight at it but ‘didn’t see it’........
Oh, and bearing in mind the circumstances of the game in question, Saints 2-0 up in a vital battle against relegation, then being beaten 3-2, a suitable punishment would be forfeiture of the game. Yeah, right.........
If he doesn’t appeal it of course...... might take the risk for the SF and accept the longer ban for a failed appeal. Sure as hell won’t win it!
Excellent times, i will be in the DRC and will be one hour in front. I get up 3:30 - 4:00 for work so I can watch the matches over breakfast.
Aguero's out for a month, after having keyhole surgery for a knee problem. That and City having absolutely **** all to play for now they've won the title, of course.
