It is funny and outrageous in equal measure. We all know how religiously FIFA follow the rules, but 14 seconds. It's part of their anti English agenda in my opinion. I wonder if Silva has grounds to sue over restraint of trade. I know he'll get paid but, through no fault of his own, is missing out of appearance bonuses etc.
Anyone think that this would be an issue if it was Barca or Real? No, me neither. It never would have come out in the first place and he'd be available to play.
Let's just pretend that Los Ladrones haven't been stung by the exact same thing, namely when their move for David De Gea was sunk by Man Utd faxing the necessary paperwork just late enough that the transfer couldn't be concluded.
Also what happened: https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/aug/31/david-de-gea-joining-real-madrid-manchester-united
Finally FIFA have a champion. Your strange intervention only makes sense if Man Utd faxed it less than a minute. or 5 minutes after the deadline. If it were 30 minutes late, it's a different matter. I don't recall it getting that close (could be wrong though) and it wasn't the case that Madrid had paid for him meaning he was stuck in limbo for 6 months.
Whilst I totally agree that if this had been one the worlds biggest clubs it would not have been an issue, it should also be remembered that they had already invoked the 2 hour extension and really only have themselves to blame. As it is Leicester I actually find it quite funny (in fact it would only be funnier if it was the spammers).
Newsnow Spurs has a lot of comments about Barkley to join us or Chelsea, Bale back to Spurs and Kane not ruling out a move to Madrid. David Ginola has suggested Bale but I don't think we should buy him back. Kane to Madrid? Well there's no point in keeping a distracted and tempted player and no one man is bigger than the club and somebody else always comes through. Now I see Barkley as a very good addition for us so he's the main plus in all this. I feel we must get more ruthless as two three goal leads were, in my opinion wasted. Maybe Barkley will be the player to give us that.
I disagree with almost every line. If this is a distracted Kane then a focused one is scary. And the thought of Alli Eriksen and Bale behind him would be unstoppable. You've seen a ruthlessness about Barkley that I have not.
The Leicester debacle over Silva is so <standard> Spursy. I would not be surprised if they were using THFC letter-headed paper in all document exchanges (it would explain why Silva was happy to join them) .
Not a champion, just Not606's resident Narrative Smasher doing their job. The fact is a fee had been agreed (£29m + Keylor Navas) and the paperwork was all in order, the only thing missing was somebody at Man Utd having the fax machine switched on despite knowing all day that some paperwork would need to be sent. So if FIFA are so against those blue passport-waving appeasement monkeys, why didn't they find a loophole for Los Ladrones? Come to think of it, if they hate the English league so much, why didn't they block Arshavin's move to Arsenal given the majority of the paperwork was filed late?
Most of Russia's squad for Euro 2008 came fitted with a killswitch that meant that, once they weren't coached by either Guus Hiddink or Dick Advocaat, they played about as well as the majority of Southampton players snaffled up by Liverpool, Man Utd or Arsenal in recent seasons. Arshavin, Bilyaletdinov, Pavlyuchenko and Zhirkov are all fine examples of this.
That is why clubs who buy the best Spurs players are willing to pay the Levy tax. No kill-switches, and only incorrect use can render the talent useless.
Its strange but in the matches that I watched we got 2 wins and the 6 points available for the 2 matches. Whilst i would agree that we made hard work of the first one we did still win and we did play 30 mins a man short and it was the oppositions biggest home match of the season. The 2nd match was a comfortable win where we even increased the margin to 4, and didn't waste unnecessary energy chasing a match that was already won. When we start drawing or losing matches from this situation then I will consider it to be wasting these leads, but I think anyone castigating the team for the last 2 results is being harsh in the extreme.
I don't see it as wasting energy, I see a match by winning by as many goals as possible and not having to hold on at the end after being three goals ahead. Also being three up in 23 minutes and then waiting for a 94th minute deflection shows a weakness which needs addressing in both instances. Even a pundit agreed that the Huddersfield match became boring because of the lack of goals from early on. I saw it as a good opportunity to shrink the goal difference between us and the top two teams but we let them off the hook from a real thrashing. I hope we give Bournemouth a hiding to finally kill the Wembley hoodoo. Draws against Swansea and Burnley are just not acceptable. Now I wouldn't say I'm castigating the team, I'm pointing out a weakness which needs addressing.
Fair enough forums and football fuel debate and we all have opinions - we don't agree on this but that's one of the reasons we love the game and why we contribute to these threads - come on you Spurs
Ricardo Carvalho has become the latest footballer to be sentenced to prison in Spain for tax dodging. He's got a 7 month sentence, which means that he won't serve any of it, due to a lack of previous convictions. Another Jorge Mendes client, another tax dodger. What a coincidence.
