His arm was down by his side and if he'd lifted his arm it would have hit his side....

When you view the incident from side on you can see his arm clearly move towards the ball, and his guilty reaction in the post match interview confirms it was a stone wall penalty.

In the slow motion shot it looks like that. But in normal time he's just running and his arms swinging. The ball hits his arm in front of his torso. No way on earth is that a red card.

Again, totally disagree. He's watching the ball and makes a clear arm movement towards it..

wow ... you think so? .. I'll watch it on MOTD tonight before offering a definitive opinion but initial thought ..no intent by Simpson..id doesn't hit the arm hits his body so no goal ... Huth ...absolutely no intent ..no pen ..
I don't think the Simpson 1 was a pen because his arm was closed towards his body but the Huth 1 was a stonewaller imo, had his arm stretched out to make it more difficult for the ball to get past him, don't know how it wasn't given.

I don't think the second was a penalty (although someone seems to). Mind you, if you were playing a SAF ManU team at Old Trafford - they would have got that as a penalty!

It's the inconsistency problem again and again. As long as there is any element of subjective decision making to be made then humans are fallible to outside influences (or incompetence!) I disagree with the suggestion that all handballs in the box are penalties, as was said it would lead to players deliberately flicking the ball onto the opposition's arms. It's got to be another case for the video ref surely? A senior ref who is somewhere else in the ground and not subject to the same influences. He gets 5 seconds (maybe 10?) to decide to overrule the on the field ref. If he can't decide in that time the original decision stands. It's a role for refs that are too old for field duties, but have great experience.

You mean that match that we won and that match that we played the reserves?
Your goal at the Lane was scored by Huth when he should have been serving a suspension one of his two of acts of violent conduct that, inexplicably, were not punished by the referees concerned at the time and totally ignored by the Leicester fairytale loving media.

I think it's time to award Leicester the PL trophy.
Mind you,it reminds me of the Arsenal of the George Graham days. They always thought if they parked the bus keeping the other teams out, they could possibly steal one. It seemed to work.
BUT! IT'S BORING!!!!!

Ronald Koeman would suggest you are wrong.

I'm not Ronald Koeman mate <laugh>.

I've already said it's one of those where if it goes against you, you're pissed but if it goes for you, you claim it's the correct call. While I'd say it was ball to hand, I do think Simpson knew exactly where that ball was going and I think chose to keep his arm moving in the motion it did as naturally he wanted to prevent the ball from going in, one of those where it looks completely unintended but deep down he knew his arm was going to block the ball. Tough call to make for the referee, it would've completely changed the game too as had he have given the pen, Simpson would've been off.

No it wasn't. Barca got beaten. That makes it a good game where I live.

I can't stand Real Madrid, they're just a more glamorous version of £ity and £helsea. The way they tap up players (which we know all too well about) and just the general smugness of the club and it's players is something I really despise.

Blimey <laugh>

Care to refresh my memory?

Reckon you should start plotting the demise of United with sublime sexy football next week and who your new manager will be next season because I clocked Levy rubbing his hands at the goal ( extra £10 million) Kane scored yesterday & if he does as history has previously shown in the past ala Bale, Poch will be off !

ps Ali will be kept til the Jan window !

The arrogance shown on here by some of my fellow Spurs people is astonishing. Why are we so intent on rubbishing a team who are 7 points clear at this stage of the season.

Well done to a Leicester side who have "dared" to ruffle a few feathers at the top end of the division, rather than accept their supposed rightful place below the beloved Sky Big Four.

No, it isn't easy on the eye to watch, but so what ? If it takes you to where Leicester are at the moment, then let them enjoy their time at the top of the PL.

Good luck to them, that's what I say. If we can't win it, I hope Leicester do.

With united winning the results this weekend have been terrible all round

Not really. Either way we knew we'd need to beat United next week. If we do, we'll be 12 points clear of them which should be enough to secure a top 4 spot. The flipside, however, is that we also need United to pick up enough points to stay in touch with City and a chance at 4th spot, so that when they meet Leicester on the 3rd last week of the season, they have a massive incentive to win. That and the West Ham game are the only two remaining that I can see Leicester dropping points in. Our problem is that those points need to total 6 and then they need to drop points in a 3rd fixture. I'd love Defoe to secure his place in Spurs lore with a winner next week but tbh I can't see Sunderland getting anything. This means that we have to do the unthinkable and pray for Chelsea to put together a winning run so that come the final day of the season they're also chasing a CL spot and a huge incentive that will no doubt come in the form of pots of Russian rubles from Roman should they qualify.

In other news, I've recently changed profession to become a wholesaler of straw.
