Well Suarez was found guilty of racial abuse but none of you scousers seem to care much for the verdict there? I bring Gerrard into it bcos it's a heck of a lot closer to Cantona's conduct than Suarez. You're the one who started off by saying violence such as that by Cantona is common assault (edited). I think it's a fair comparison for all those reasons.

I still see none of you have actually responded to my original point <whistle> Lets be straight, there's no way any of you are going to admit Suarez acted like a racist prick so why bang on about Cantona. You hold no moral high ground on this at all. At least I can accept Cantona's violent idiocy. He received his punishment and rightly so.

You are trying to put a fire out by throwing a bucket of petrol on it Treble.

Instead of trying to justify Cantona's violent attack on a spectator by trying to find comparative examples from our players that don't exist just answer my original point that the bbc have treated the Frenchman as if he was the victim instead of the aggressor in the link I posted.
As for your Suarez point, an FA panel found he had broken one their rules, Cantona on the other hand was found guilty of a criminal act in an English court of law.

Which one of the two was treated as a criminal by the English media?

That's the crux of the argument mate.<ok>

Cambridge v Man Utd

FA CUP FOURTH ROUND
Venue: Abbey Stadium Date: Friday, 23 January Kick-off: 19:55 GMT

All transport north of Cambridge was shut down today as icy weather forced the closure rail and road links.

No Man Utd fans are thought to have been affected.

Of course it "changes the fact", do you really think Suarez is the same off the pitch as on it?, Suarez was punished for his actions on the pitch and Gerrard was found not guilty off it, it matters not that you think he was guilty because you weren't there on the night nor where you the judge in court.

Tobes made the point earlier in the thread that Giggs's behaviour off the pitch has no bearing on his day job, the reverse should also apply Treble.
Why do you feel the need to rope Gerrard into what Cantona did?

Lets just take into consideration all his violent elbows instead. That way we dont have to ralk about his off the field violence or those violent gangsters he associates with <whistle>

And the club was the first to punish him. No defending his actions despite us being on the verge of the title. We acted swiftly despite the impact on the club.

but wouldn't Roy Keane's assault on Man City player (can't think of his name) be a lot closer to Cantona's attack than Gerrards or Suarezs'?

No. You probably think it ended his career or played a part in it.

You would be wrong though. His other leg was the reason he retired.

If "off the field" is fair game with Gerrard then that opens the discussion to yoonited's shady catalogue of smut.

But in reality you're just evading calling a convicted thug a convicted thug.<whistle>

No need to use his off the field antics when theres so much violence from gerrard that took place on the pitch.

That's was just yoonited assuming they could decide a lesser punishment for the **** than he eventually got off the FA and the English legal system.

He fully deserved the punishment he received.

Indeed he did. No united fan would disagree. I believe thats the point treble was making.

So you've conveniently forgot about the smear campaign against the victim of the French thug?

Apparently he deserved it according to United fans at the time, they even had banners and songs about it.

Next time we play you at OT listen to the ****e aimed at our players by yoonited fans taking corners and free throwin's (the same happens at our ground to yoonited players), shouting **** at opposition players has always happened and always will.
