Amazing what some people pack into their lives.

Great story in one paper from someone about her giving a speech at his school. In the question and answer section afterwards some lad asked about the protection women wore. Much sniggering in he audience as he inquired about whether they wore a box like men. "We call them a manhole cover, love" she replied.

Sad indeed. Him and other youngsters far more deserving of sympathy than millionaire rock stars whohave lived an enviable life for decades, some of who would have lived longer if they hadn't led self-indulgent lifestyles which send some people into mourning.

Whilst we are busy complaining about relatively minor things spare a thought for this lad and his parents and others going through similar agonies.

Pete 'Overend' Watts the bass player with Mott The Hoople aged 69. As a bass player and a massive fan of that brilliant band, I feel incredibly sad with this news. He wasn't a flash player, he did exactly what was needed and had a good sense of humour and style to go with it. RIP Overend x

Mott are one of my all-time favourite bands. Saw them on the reunion tour a couple of years ago and they were awesome. He's another great loss from the heroes of when pop music was special.

Can't think what else to say, so a couple of verses from Ballard of Mott:

I changed my name in search of fame to find the Midas touch,
Oh I wish I'd never wanted then what I want now, twice as much.
We crossed the mighty oceans and we had a few divides,
But we never crossed emotion, for we felt too much inside.

So rock n' roll's a loser's game, it mesmerizes and I can't explain,

And Overend's just a rock n' roll star. RIP.

I used to love 'Allo 'Allo - a spoof on the brilliant Secret Army series ...... I bet Mr Kaye had a lot of fun making the show ....
