One of my childhood heroes, Hull Vikings Speedway rider, Ivan Mauger, 78 has died, he’d been suffering from dementia. RIP.

Sad news indeed. The 'main man' from a period when Hull Vikings could claim to be one of the biggest sports success stories in the city. The atmosphere on those Wednesday nights at The Boulevard was something else. Unless I've dreamt it, there's currently an online petition going round to have him remembered in the city. Not sure of the details but I'm sure I've seen links to it via @HullVikings on Twitter.
