Loved TV from the time I got a football year book at Christmas in about 1968 when he was playing for QPR. In it he was asked which team he thought might be the next big thing and he said Hull City. RIP.. a big loss.
Remember a game at Boothferry Park, miserable grey wet Saturday afternoon with about 3,000 of us there, late 60's maybe mid 70's?, City v QPR or Palace, forget which but Terry Venables was the visiting manager. When the teams trotted out after half time he was last out of the tunnel and instead of heading for the away dug out he came and stood in the Well with us. He asked us what we thought of it so far, you can imagine the response, and we all exchanged a few pleasantries before he took his place in the dug out. Nice friendly bloke, I liked him.

It would be Palace. His first managerial job.He started there in 1976. Though he was Malcolm Alison’s assistant the season before.

Actor and director Dean Sullivan has died at the age of 68.

Sullivan was the longest-serving member of the Channel 4 soap Brookside, playing Jimmy Corkhill between 1986 and 2003.

He died peacefully following a short illness on Wednesday, his agent said.

Henry Kissinger aged 100
RIP

I read a bio of R. M. Nixon, can't recall the author's name....Actually Kissinger didn't come out of it all that well, but what a guy, the diplomats diplomat.

Statement from former Chancellor Alistair Darling’s family: "Mr Darling, the much-loved husband of Margaret and beloved father of Calum and Anna, died after a short spell in Western General Hospital under the wonderful care of the cancer team." He was 70 years old.

Now you'll sing a song of liberty for blacks and paks and jocks.
And they'll take you from this dump you're in and stick you in a box.
Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground,
But you'll stick your head back out and shout "We'll have another round"

RIP Shane.

I'll raise a glass tonight.

And a dozen more besides.*

* Nah, not really. Can't cope with that any more.
