El Tel was a top football bloke, and a decent person too. One of the founder members and signatories of the the Anti Nazi League in 1978. RIP
Remember a game at Boothferry Park, miserable grey wet Saturday afternoon with about 3,000 of us there, late 60's maybe mid 70's?, City v QPR or Palace, forget which but Terry Venables was the visiting manager. When the teams trotted out after half time he was last out of the tunnel and instead of heading for the away dug out he came and stood in the Well with us. He asked us what we thought of it so far, you can imagine the response, and we all exchanged a few pleasantries before he took his place in the dug out. Nice friendly bloke, I liked him.
Absolutely devastated. The very first band I ever saw (Welly Club, 1980) and his unique guitar sound was still rocking the Royal Albert Hall when I last saw them back in March this year, 50+ gigs later. RIP Geordie
I was initially surprised to read that Jimmy Page was a fan and attendee of their gigs, but I think he recognised the unique talent too. https://www.loudersound.com/news/killing-joke-guitarist-geordie-walker-dead-at-64
It would be Palace. His first managerial job.He started there in 1976. Though he was Malcolm Alison’s assistant the season before.

Henry Kissinger aged 100 RIP I read a bio of R. M. Nixon, can't recall the author's name....Actually Kissinger didn't come out of it all that well, but what a guy, the diplomats diplomat.
Spent 20 years in and out of hospital with various serious ailments and the last 8 years in a wheelchair ... Horrendous way to bow out. Enjoyed Rum Sodomy and the Lash back around 1990... RIP
Bugger, now playing Sally Maclennane, original punk, saw The Pogues just once on tour with Elvis Costello in their early days, terrific, RIP.
Statement from former Chancellor Alistair Darling’s family: "Mr Darling, the much-loved husband of Margaret and beloved father of Calum and Anna, died after a short spell in Western General Hospital under the wonderful care of the cancer team." He was 70 years old.
Never a follower of Shane MacGowan or the Pogues but Fairytale of New York was,is and always will be one of the finest pieces ever penned.. Cap doffed at a life lived in the true punk rock ethos R.I.P...
Now you'll sing a song of liberty for blacks and paks and jocks. And they'll take you from this dump you're in and stick you in a box. Then they'll take you to Cloughprior and shove you in the ground, But you'll stick your head back out and shout "We'll have another round" RIP Shane. I'll raise a glass tonight. And a dozen more besides.* * Nah, not really. Can't cope with that any more.
