Renowned Irish broadcaster Gay Byrne has died at the age of 85.

Mr Byrne was a giant in Irish broadcasting and hosted the Late Late Show - for more than 30 years on Irish national broadcaster RTÉ.

Terry O’Neill CBE, the 60's fashion photographer who became as famous as the people he photographed, has died aged 81.

TV chef Gary Rhodes has died aged 59, it looks like the poor bloke just went to bed and never woke up.

Edit: It seems he was taken ill while filming in Dubai yesterday and died within hours, presumably a heart attack.

My dad. He had a long and eventful life and was getting frail, so there is a sense of this being the natural order of things. But still a shock - he was only in hospital for 36 hours - and I miss the old bugger something chronic.

Sorry for your loss mate - 'long and eventful' that's a good epitaph for the old boy.

Sorry about your loss. From experience losing a parent is pretty tough going. I hope your Dad is at peace and you have some great memories.
