My dad. He had a long and eventful life and was getting frail, so there is a sense of this being the natural order of things. But still a shock - he was only in hospital for 36 hours - and I miss the old bugger something chronic.
Sorry to hear of your loss, same with my old man, great innings, went into hospital and gone in 36 hours.

I feel your pain, mate. Losing your Dad is ****ing rubbish. 13 years last week since my Dad was killed at work and I still wish I could tell him about Wembley and all the adventures we've been on since.

Remember the good times, he lives on in you and yours.

I'm so with you there, Des. I'm so grateful my Dad saw us in the top flight and at Wembley. Those were things he always used to tell me he'd never see, but I would.

So grateful for that.

"In order to end painful speculation surrounding the sudden passing of our beloved Gary Rhodes OBE, the Rhodes family can confirm that after a successful day shooting with Rock Oyster Media for ITV here in Dubai, Gary returned home in a very happy mood for a peaceful evening with his wife Jennie.

"After dinner, Gary unfortunately collapsed in their residence and was rushed to hospital but unfortunately passed away due to subdural hematoma.

"At this time, there are no other details and the family would again request privacy around this very tragic loss and again, thank friends and family for their ongoing support at this time."

Similar to how I lost my Mum. Similar age as well

Two sad losses from the motorcycle racing world. Percy Tait passed away earlier this month, great racer from the 1950s through to the mid 1970s and development rider for Triumph and Suzuki including developing Barry Sheene's world championship winning bikes. In later life he went on to become one of the world's top sheep breeders! Wonderful character! And more recently Chris Carter also passed away. One of the best bike race commentators and journalists and another good guy too. RIP Percy and Chris.
