Hull City Council is greatly saddened to learn of the passing of Lord Christopher Haskins.

Over his long career, Lord Haskins had an instrumental role in driving business investment, growth and employment across the Humber. Most significantly, he chaired the Northern Foods and Express Dairies FTSE 100 company before also founding and chairing the Humber Local Enterprise Partnership.

That’s sad news, I was friends with his daughter many years ago and would visit the family farm in Skidby.

Sad news. I was in the same class at school as one of his daughters (number 1 and 2 in the school's chess team I'll have you know - and she was English Schools Champion at one stage - hence me being a distant number 2 lol). I got to know the family pretty well and he always came across as a friendly bloke.

He did a lot for the region that's for sure.

RIP Sir.

Yeah, well-liked, very approachable, reasonably regular face at the pub where he always endearingly became more and more Irish the drunker he got, though as his health declined I’d not seen him there for the last couple of years. Its only been a few days, but since his passing out and about in the village it’s been the first topic of conversation when you see someone you know.

I briefly had some professional dealings with him in his ambassadorial role too and he was genuinely interested in bigging up local businesses.

RIP to a proud adopted son of East Yorkshire.

Roger Hudson.

One of our own. A Hull hippy from the 60s. Loved people, photography, books, music. An entrepreneur & a raconteur. Responsible for one of the best threads on this board

A good man, who genuinely cared. I’ll miss our online discussions & photo exchanges of random doors.

RIP Roger (Dr Stanley O’Google)

EDIT: somehow managed to post this in the wrong month. Stan passed on the 16th of this month.
