“Broadcaster Dame Jenni Murray, who hosted BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour for more than three decades, has died at the age of 75.

Dame Jenni joined the programme in 1987 and left in 2020 as its longest-serving presenter.

During her time on the show, the formidable presenter conducted memorable interviews with female figures as varied as Bette Davis, Margaret Thatcher, Hillary Clinton and Margaret Atwood.

In 2011, she received a damehood in recognition of her contribution to broadcasting, and also won two Sony Awards and was made a member of the Radio Academy Hall of Fame during her career.

Dame Jenni announced on air in 2006 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.”

Simon William Cooke, loving husband to Joanne, proud and devoted father to Julia and Fiona and dear son of Stella Smith, passed away suddenly at home, aged 58, on the 1st of March 2026.

Despite our immense sadness and heartbreak, we feel so lucky to have enjoyed life with him. Simon brought joy to everything we did together as a family, he was passionate in all his endeavors and had an incredible zest for life, which we will miss forever.

The funeral service will be held at 11:30 on Friday, 27th March 2026, at Haltemprice Crematorium, Willerby. We kindly ask that you wear black. Family flowers only, however, if desired, donations can be made to Humber Rescue either at the service or through this link.
This is a shock!
RIP Simon , condolences to his family. Lovely fella

I chatted to Mike several times in the gym at Ennerdale. Very nice bloke and down to earth. One of only a few who represented both HKR and FC....
He told me a story about playing as full back for Hull FC vs Widnes in a John Player Cup final, and having to face a rampaging Jim Mills, one on one...Very funny story.
RIP Mike....

Makes me shudder thinking of Jim Mills coming at me full pelt, he was a tough bloke.
