Val Kilmer, the actor best known for his roles in Top Gun, Batman Forever and The Doors, has died at the age of 65.

His daughter Mercedes told the New York Times that the cause of death was pneumonia. Kilmer was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2014 and later recovered, after treatment with chemotherapy and trachea surgery that had reduced hisability to speak.

Born in Los Angeles in 1959, Kilmer was one of the youngest students ever admitted to the acting programme at the Juilliard School, aged 17. He started out as a stage actor and rose to prominence in the late 1980s with his roles in movie comedies Top Secret! and Real Genius before landing a role as Iceman in the box office smash Top Gun.

Brian Leighton 80.
Hull City fan. East Stand regular, home and away. For the last few season he has attended in a wheel chair pushed by his wife who is also a City fan. Lived in the Chanterlands Avenue area, which is how I got to know them, saw them both at Wembley, which was nice.
Lovely bloke and a lovely couple. Donkeys years of support for the club behind him and as a couple.
Brian has asked for any donations at his funeral to be donated to the Tigers Trust and for City shirts to be worn at his funeral.
Pleasure to have known him. RIP Tiger.

Very sad news. I got to know their two children around forty years ago and later got to know Bryan and Janet, saw them at many away games until Bryan started with knee issues and couldn’t travel any more. A true gentleman, and dedicated City fan.

Dearly-loved and loving husband and best friend of Janet (Jan), Devoted Dad of Sue and Mike, much loved in-laws Mike and Emma, and a proud Grandad of Alex, Cam and Joe. A loyal friend to many. Service to be held at St Ninian's and St Andrew's URC, Chanterlands Avenue, Hull on Thursday 17th April at 11am followed by a private family committal. At Bryan's request, please wear black and amber (football shirts, if possible) or smart, casual wear. Family flowers only. Donations in Bryan's memory to Tigers Trust or St Ninian's and St Andrew's URC would be welcome.

Dave Allen, the bass player for post-punk band Gang of Four, has died at 69 years old.

His former bandmates Jon King and Hugo Burnham confirmed the musican’s death on social media, sharing that he had previously been diagnosed with dementia.

Their post read: ‘It is with broken yet full hearts that we share the news that Dave Allen, our old music partner, friend, and brilliant musician, died on Saturday morning. He was at home with his family.
