Wigan have sacked manager Leam Richardson after a poor run of form left the club in the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.

Richardson led the Latics to the League One title last season and only signed a new three-year contract on October 25th.

Great way to treat someone who has done what he did for them, isn’t it?

It repeatedly amazes me how quickly football clubs get ideas above their station and start sacking managers when they're not able to maintain a level of overperformance.

Reading fans have been giving Ince a lot of grief lately apparently. They were favourites to go down at the start of the season, under a transfer embargo, he overperformed for a bit but now they're furious that they're not in the top 6 any more. Bonkers.

A work colleague supports Rotherham and we were discussing this earlier. It’s the nature of the tight division this season - lose two games and you are haunted by relegation, win two games and you are playoffs bound and handed a contract by Southampton.

Their squad isn't up to championship standard. It think they're insane to fire him. Always seems like deflection from the board in the situations, they spent **** all but he's the one to blame

Wigan are apparently about to announce Kolo Toure as their new manager, despite him not having any managerial experience (bizarrely, it seems they wanted Yaya Toure, but he turned them down, so they went for his brother).
That’s the kind of strategy that will take them all the way to the north west county leagues.

If Liam hadn't been assistant manager at Derby for eighteen months and manager for three months, it would be.

You'd have been better off using Barmby as an example.

but apparently kolo has been coaching since 2017 with ivory coast
celtic and leicester

But no experience of the Championship and that is apparently a prerequisite for success at this level. Except for those who hadn’t but still had success, Farke, Wagner, Bielsa etc…

I never thought Championship managerial experience was a prerequisite, but normally having some managerial experience somewhere is an advantage.

True. These things never work. Except when the do of course.<laugh> You have never stated it is necessary but others have.
