Used to be amongst my favourites but I haven't been for about six months now. Particularly liked the Sunday lunches until twice on the trot we went, booked in advance, and both times they had run out of something, either the roast beef, roast spuds and even the Yorkshire puds.Anyone been to butler whites recently? Rate it?
£100+/head is well into Michelin star prices, unless you were drinking Chateau Rothschild?Used to be amongst my favourites but I haven't been for about six months now. Its a different menu on a night time and the place is quite lively atmosphere wise but again, the last two maybe three times we have been the service has been appallingly slow. So we now give it a miss. Locally? Cognac, the French place on Chanterlands Avenue is decent, but again like a lot of places these days, it's either smaller plates or smaller portions, but it is still pretty good value.
Someone mentioned the Westwood above. Nice place but vastly overpriced in my opinion. On my last visit I ordered steak and chips, cannot remember the actual cost but my half towards the bill for a table of four was well over £200 and we were in and out in an hour. Steak came, very nice and the chips came in a tin mug, and that was it, nothing else on the plate. Next day I was in Three John Scotts Wetherspoons in town and the steak and chips was the special, £8.99 with a pint, and it was as good, if not better.
Pub grub? Dog and Duck in Beverley, £8.50 steak pie and chips, excellent. But you have to book in advance.

It is a Michelin Star establishment and we did have a rather nice bottle of red, and a couple of gins but fair play to the place, it is something special and the service is top class, but my paricular choice of steak and chips, was just that and in my opinion overpriced.£100+/head is well into Michelin star prices, unless you were drinking Chateau Rothschild?
So like I said the steak is overpriced. Mind you. I don't look at the price, like you.Steak and chips at the Westwood is £34.50 for the fillet and £36.50 for the ribeye, the sides are extra and it’s vastly superior to a Weatherspoon’s. Some of the wines are very expensive and it’s easy to run up a big bill, I had a £775 bill in there once and there were only five of us.

Alright, it used to have, it is still considered as one of the best places to eat in East Yorkshire, or are you going to argue that point aswell?it hasn’t got a Michelin Star, the only Michelin Star restaurant in East Yorkshire is the Pipe & Glass at Dalton.
Whites in Beverley used to have one I think. Dunno if it’s open.it hasn’t got a Michelin Star, the only Michelin Star restaurant in East Yorkshire is the Pipe & Glass at Dalton.

Fair enough, and I've ammended my original post, I've been a couple of times, and as I never take my reading glasses, I honestly didn't know that the sides were extra. We are back soon and I will pay more attention next time. Daughter of mine was in there whilst the races were on quite recently. Couple of pikey's on the next table were sexually abusive to her and actually threatened her husband, who isn't a fighter. Spoilt their night completely. The manager was excellent and although the pikeys were not thrown out, my daughter and her husband were moved to another table and the bill wavered. Just shows that the price doesnt keep the riff raff out. It’s never had a Michelin Star, but it’s a very good restaurant and I’m not arguing, I was just pointing out you were mistaken.
Never did, some places even let me inFair enough, and I've ammended my original post, I've been a couple of times, and as I never take my reading glasses, I honestly didn't know that the sides were extra. Same guy, John Robinson who has owned Whites since 2008. Was there 4 weeks ago. 9 course taster meal £75. ExcellentI think they lost it when the chef left, I’m not sure who the chef is now, but for a while they had a chef who’d had 2 Stars in a previous restaurant.

****e vegan options, so not had my custom.Santi's in Anlaby is really good every time I've been. The head waiter 'Ernesto' is a right greedy t*wat though. Desperate and borderline rude when it comes to tips. I always tip nicely but he genuinely asks for more and I don't like it.
