Give Sian Massey a go. She's a good lino so she's bound to be a good ref.
Seriously though, any woman could be a good shout as because of their gender, they have to be the best of the best to get the opportunity to officiate in men's games. Therefore I'd imagine the standard of reffing by female ref's in men's football is very high.

Doesn't work like that. PL Assistants are NOT qualified to referee PL matches. In fact, they probably aren't able to referee football league matches.
Could try the Roman method where the crowd show thumbs up or down?
Ok, so I know Tom isn't going to like this so apologies to you, Qwerty and the others who are referees; I know it's a tough job.
However....
Really...I thought they were all refs.
Conference level refs (but most of them go "full time" assistants for a year or two)

I think the standard of referring is getting worse and worse in the most wealthy league in the world. I thought Moss was atrocious today, I really did. I didn't think much to the ref in the City, Arsenal and United games, but I couldn't possibly be seen to moan after defeats. Today I am very happy after a 3-0 win and so I think in a good frame of mind to discuss this. What can be done to improve them? I wonder if part of this is that the players get fitter and fitter, leaving the refs behind in terms of fitness... Just a thought. As for players if any sport or people in any situation in life, making decisions when there is less oxygen available to the brain is hard and I wonder if this is effecting what I believe is a deteriation in the overall standard of referring at the top end of our game.
Do we need to change how the referees come thought the system?
Am I wrong in my thoughts about the standard slipping?
Isn't there the danger that the crowd would mainly be homers![]()
Anthony Taylor was outstanding today, and we've got him for the Chelsea game.![]()
I have never criticised a referee on this forum. As a qualified ref myself, I can often see two sides to a decision. So, even though I might not always agree with it, I can see why it might have been given. BUT, today was a mystery.
It took me most of half time to convince my wife that he wasn't being paid to fix the game in Everton's favour. Maybe he took the break to consider his performance because he did improve somewhat in the second half.
Quite how that wasn't a penalty on Long I will never know. It was the most obvious spot kick I have ever seen. Not to mention any of the other terrible decisions. Unbelievable.
I think Long's problem is that his movements are so exaggerated...he looks like he's being theatrical even when he is not.
