The best I was hoping for was us making a play for pulis,still think that would have guaranteed safety.But this is ****ing amazing! Should have been done sooner but if the club smash this bullshit policy that makes money at the expense of having a team of central midfielders, I can have full faith there is some change of heart in MA. Of course its Newcastle so chances are negotiations will break down at the last minute over a clause that either forces Benitez to wear a sports direct suit or limits defenders he can buy to 0

Sky ticker update @ 2.10pm: Steve McClaren to be sacked and will not be in charge against Leicester on Monday. Newcastle in advanced talks with Rafael Benitez about becoming Manager.

They have missed a trick with trying to keep him as head coach. If they were going to try and keep him it should have been in a more general role with oversight of the footballing side of the club and overhauling development etc. Can't blame Rafa for wanting his own people looking after the first team.
