I think the real can of worms for the FA is consistency. Liverpool fans were up in arms about the difference in the punishments for Suares and Terry and probably have a point. The FA can talk about nuances and different elements in the case but all most people will think is Terry said "effing BC" and Suares said "negrito" yet one got double the ban. They need to be far clearer in explaining the reasons for the differences and then maybe people like Jason Roberts may feel differently. His reaction was interesting as he's never struck me as particularly having an axe to grind but, rather, is protecting the interests of players who don't like to be abused simply because of the colour of their skin.
Although most people are probably sick and tired of it I don't really think it has been blown out of proportion. The FA can't push for sactions against serbia for what happened the other night whilst allowing players in their own game to chuck around racial insults with impunity.
