So you want to make a bet with me over something you already know the answer to. That aint fair. I am only judging what I heard on the news yesterday. On this issue I support his stance. England is one of the most tolerant and progressive societies. But in this instance kio is toothless.
Aye, both of us got off with racially aggravated abuse in the same courtroom within 3 months of each other
I just hate hearing about on going issues when there are bigger issues that are getting a lot less air time. Doesn't help that SSN is becoming more of a gossip channel.
I am not offended by being called white, it doesn't mean I wouldn't use it against someone who assaulted me. If the intent is to offend by using my race as part of the verbal assault I am just as entitled to complain as if I were black and my colour had been used. It's just I've never heard anything that insults me in the same way as the racist language used against black people obviously does. If I got in a fight and for the duration the other person was saying "I hate white people" or "You effing white c--t" then it would be a racial assault, not just normal assault. I'm not here to defend Roberts but I think the point he was making is that we are making a huge deal about what the U-21's had to put up with from the Serbian supporters but he obviously thinks things aren't so much different here. Perhaps he thinks the Kick it Out campaign hasn't been that effective? As with comments on Not606, everyone has an opinion and we don't all have to agree with them.
There are more prevalent issues certainly. But the darling of the FA is the kick it out campaign. Roberts is being asked to endorse it and he can't do it because he believes it is failing. This will highlight the failings of kick it out and do a lot more for anti racism than meekly wearing a t-shirt would.
To suggest that things aren't much better here than they are in Eastern Europe is laughable. Racism rears its ugly head on occasion in English football, but it's on a completely different level over there. Stupid slavs.
Don't call me an invalid. I'll have you done for discriminating against the disabled, you bigoted ****wit.
Glen Johnson certainly thought so when he gleefully put on the Luis Suares is innocent tee shirt - and then had to put up with him calling him a negrito on Twitter. Funny how Rio never called him a choc ice eh?
