Managed to lose what I was going to say but will try again.
Now that QPR have money they have to pay over the odds for all these players. It is a big mistake on QPR's part to give him a 5 year contract. A club in QPR's position should only be giving 2 year contracts at the most, 3 years at a stretch. They will have a huge problem should they get relegated and players like Onuoha want to leave.
The club is only thinking short term and only long term, based on the fact that they are certain they will stay up. Also, it doesn't really look like QPR are after raw quality. Their decisions appear to be based on which club they are at and how much they are earning.
Big players, big transfer fees and big wages don't always help. Just look at Torres.
Ferdinand, Wright-Phillips and Bothroyd seem like big players but they haven't really done anything special and didn't really set the team alight at their previous clubs. Haven't QPR learnt from them?
I would rather have a young and ambitious player like Howson who is earning a maximum of £15k a week and his only motive was to play in the Premier League (and find somewhere to fish) instead of a player like Zamora who wants £90k a week, 6 times more than Howson, a player who is past it and perhaps isn't even Premier League quality.
QPR should look at their league position, then Norwich's and Swansea's then look at the players signed by them, Norwich and Swansea.
I would rather have Ayala or Caulker than Gabbidon, Holt or Graham than Bothroyd, Pilkington or Dyer than Wright-Phillips and Howson or McEachran than Barton.
