Ellers was man enough to admit his mistake and apologise in public! SN23 ignored several warnings, endured two temporary bans and still chose not to repent, then, when given the chance to fight his corner in the form of a new identity, instead of putting his case in an adult manner, chooses to carry on his puerile attacks on moderation! He will not change, he now has lots of decent posters squabbling over his treatment! He must be in heaven! If you don't like the job we do, tell us and we'll go!
Goodness me, Dave, I didn't expect that over-reaction! It was only a light-hearted comment. For the record, I think you and Thai do an admirable job, often in difficult circumstances. There are always idiots around who's only wish is to cause ill-feeling. I hope you don't think I'm in that camp! I didn't realise all that had gone on with SN, who I'd always found to be a good laugh. Maybe if such measures are necessary in the future, you could post it up so we know the reasoning? One of the things this site has over the old BBC is that this stuff can be discussed in the open. Thanks.
And there lays the problem with various comments about any ban to any member, most people do not know exactly what has happened but are only to willing to make comment without the facts.
gandy I apologise for shouting you down! In the main, moderation on the Norwich forum is a very simple task! Most of you are sensible, with a good sense of humour, and a decent knowledge of where the line not to cross is! I'm a simple (sic) bloke, who likes an easy life and a laugh and joke with my fellow football loving posters, it hurts me when I have to remove someone from a forum, but I believe that the best way ahead, is the road with least amount of problems, so, sometimes, a decision has to be made for the benefit of the many! Again, I apologise for my outburst, but I'm hurting too, because I've deprived someone of a facility that they probably enjoyed, but couldn't control their bad behaviour!
Not sure making everything that is going on behind the scenes become public is a good idea if I am being honest. How about accepting that myself and Dave are making what we feel are the right decisions on behalf of the board for the greater and long term good. We do not rush in to judgments and such judgments in the cases where a ban may be imposed are discussed between the two of and it is never a 'heat of the moment' thing. If you can not accept our judgement is fair and leave it at that, then why are we here doing what we do? If you have any concerns about anything we do, the best way to deal with it is by personal message but that does not necessarily mean we will give you all the facts about anything. The only people who get all the facts are the two of us, Syd the super moderator (He can see if we are being fair or not, and if not he will say so) and the person we are dealing with. To my mind, no one else needs to know all the details.
Oh well, I thought this had been thrashed out already, but apparently not. I didn't say we needed all the details, in fact, I couldn't give a toss about that, and accept that you had good reason. I just felt it would be nice to know that a ban had been handed out so we wouldn't wonder where one of our regulars had gone. This particular one has, after all, been posting with us for years, and I enjoyed having him around. I'm not disagreeing with your decision in the slightest, but some openness is prudent, surely?
All questions relating to it were answered... Was he banned - Yes What was he up to - No good If you don't want details, what more do you want? Not going to post it on every thread and I see no reason to create a new thread to highlight a list of 'naughty boys'
