I think a re-build is pretty much the case considering contract situations and the actual ability of certain players. The starting back 4 today, there may only be Morrisons that's here next season. I don't actually blame Dunne or Paal for winding their contracts down. They will get paid better elsewhere and may have some hope of playing in a better than poor team. Great to see the young lad Sutton get some minutes and hopefully he will get some more over the loan players who get selected. It's been yet again, another uninspiring season.
Poor display today & never at races until we went 2 down, didn’t expect much today to be honest, all at the beach & glad we are safe
Beaten by a better team with crisp, forward thinking passing do can't complain too much. Ref was just one of the worst by a very long way. My first request for next season is fof there to be no protracted winless streaks. Is that too much to hope for?
Can’t blame their players for the niggly fouls and time wasting. The referee was very happy for it to happen so it’s on him. You do what you can to win the game including taking advantage of a young ref who made it very clear early on he was miles out of his depth. The weekly token yellow for the goalkeeper in injury time so the assessor can give him a tick on his little form for that. But you aren’t going to get much out of any game playing like we did. Team selection was dreadful and it played out exactly how you’d think it would with that XI. No point babysitting Yang when we could play our own crèche.
Shocking that Cifuentes allowed that ludicrously cautious dross to continue for 75 minutes. Loads of families and newbies in the ground for a holiday game who were served up one of the poorest performances of the season. The CEO will be pulling his hair out.
We've had far too many performances like this where we don't wake up until it's too late. I do wonder what Marti is thinking at times and am concerned we lack the consistency with the current squad to be anything other than a bottom half team. I think 'uninspiring' sums up this season...
I agree with that. Marti must have worked out you can’t play Andersen and Madsen in the same team, yet he allowed them to faff around for 60 minutes together. And as for Yang! He literally acted like he was a footballer and avoided the ball completely most of the afternoon. Not wasting my time watching on Saturday. Absolute dross.
On the bright side today’s results mean it’s well out of Cardiff’s hands and they’ve burned a great opportunity for a win.
On the one hand that was crap. On the other hand I’ve had a great day and lots of beers with some top Rs fans. So a good result all in all.
Look straight up that was just awful. BUT I assume that we had to change the team structure and the very last minute. Moving Edwards up to DCM and bringing Fox in...who never looked comfortable...nor did the team We did not look at all settled until the second half...when Frey and Chair came on. Swansea on the other hand were settled and confident having won 4 ( now 5 ) on the trot. I know it is an excuse...but we are a fragile team that is decimated by injuries and suspensions. I am just going to forget about this one...and be grateful we are not involved in the mess below us. It was nice in the pub before hand and that takes the edge of things
I'm sorry, but today was just another **** performance, briefly lit up by a moment of quality from Madsen and Dembele. How many more poor performances must we suffer under Cifuentes? Who can remember the last time they came away from a game feeling excited by how we'd played? It's just the same old formulaic Spanish nonsense. Excellent pub stuff before and after, though. £126 is quite a round!
That was as flat and tepid as the Carlsberg in the Stanley Bowles stand, even the supporters didn’t seem that interested or up for it. Rangers try to play a clever passing game but the players are not good enough or smart enough to play that game. Swansea were a bit better at it and won. That’s my last game for this season and I am glad
It's the most common opinion of all this season. "That's the poorest we've been" the amount of times I've heard, read or said it is beyond me. Marti waffles on about wanting a high press then selects Madsen, Anderson mand Yang to carry it out. Well that ain't gonna ****in work out Marti. His pure stubbornness in how he sets his team up will result in yet another season of complete nothingness. This bloke could be a top coach if he became more flexible in his approach.
What gives you the idea that he could be a top coach? I've seen no evidence. I was ready to head for the pub after 70 minutes.
Exactly. We seem to be stuck with cookie cutter 'modern' tactics which occasionally work but which more often are snuffed out by teams who are much better at it than we are. Either way, most of the games ate predictable and frankly boring.
From “Loft for words”, No presence up front, no pace in the team at all, Morgan Fox basically playing for them. Too many strollers and not enough doers. I agree
I was pleasantly surprised by the place this season. Seemed far nicer than my last visit a decade or so ago. Miles ahead of the likes of Stoke and Blackburn.
