Preston go into this game on the back of 5 games without a win, lost 3 and drawn 3, and yet they still have a goalscorer, Robinson, on 10 goals, then Browne on 8 and Barkhuizen on 6. We now have Wells, Freeman and Wzolek on 6 each and Eze on 4. Also worth noting that Preston are third in the 'goals conceded' table, having let in 44 goals in 27 games. This suggests to me that we should have a real go on Saturday, and set out an attacking line up, to go and try and win by a few. Of course I'd be happy with a scrappy 1-0 win, but it'd be nice to see us win by quite a few. It is, in my opinion, going to be interesting over the next few games to see how things pan out. We've got Preston at home, then Wigan away, then Birmingham at home in the league, and two good wins could see us going into the Birmingham game within touching distance of the playoffs. I know I am crazy and blinded by hope, but a few good wins, and things could begin to shape up for a very interesting end to the season, and I haven't even mentioned the Pompey game, to carry on our cup run (now that is a phrase we haven't heard in a while). I highly suspect many on here to call me crazy, but I'm just a little optimistic about the direction we are heading in, and I'm beginning to dare to believe again. Enjoy those who will make it to headquarters on Saturday and... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
10 Feb 2001 Preston North End v Queens Park Rangers L 5-0 League Division 1 I was there for that one with a Preston supporting mate and his 5 Preston supporting mates, 0-0 half time, 1-0 light banter 2-0 more bantz 3-0 quiet, 4-0 embarrassment 5-0 awkward silence, got very drunk
I expect SM will pick the same eleven that started last week, but I think he should move Freeman into the centre of the pitch. He'll offer more creativity than Cousins who isn't cutting it when he plays. ( 49 games and no goals or assists that I can recall. ) Getting Freeman on the ball in the midfield would link up the play better so that Wells wouldn't be as isolated as he was against Sheff Utd. I'd put Bright Osayi-Samuel out on the left wide berth to give us some pace to get in behind their right back to put them on the back foot. please log in to view this image
I went up there once and it took forever. We scored fairly early and conceded fairly late so it felt like defeat so counts as both, clearly.
Thanks for noticing that. Too used to doing adding up with my toddler. Haven't quite reached the dizzy heights of double figures yet.
Home to Preston? Well I ain't ****ing posting on this thread, no way, not one single ****ty little contribution. Nope.
I agree with your team, but I envisage that Steve will chose Cousins ahead of Scowen. I hope that I am wrong! I also would like to see us use the subs to add freshness and pace in the 2nd half.
Bloody awkward side Preston, can't believe we've only won 10 out of 42 games against them.....time to add another W to the list.
5 defeats in a row, LLLLL. Time to stop the rot! I was there last season and Alex Neil's destructive tactics combined with an inept ref was a football low point for me. Nearly lost it that day!
You are crazy. But here's hoping. We owe them a few because they are an ugly cheating side who've got one over on us too many times over the least few years. Preferably a thrashing and a couple of their players sent off for multiple instances of the dark arts not to mention a clear mistake or two by the referee in our favour. Does that make me crazy too or just vengeful?
Preston are a truly horrible team to play and have been our bogey team in recent years. We haven't won against them for nine years when we beat them at Loftus Road 3-1, Adel Taarabt (2) and Rob Hulse the goal scorers. I remember when we played them in 2015 and it was one of the worse games I've ever seen, it was 0-0 and I don't think there was a shot on target. Just seen this, Preston had a chance on target right at the death. I'd probably already left by then. Adel's first goal of the match from 2010 ...
