After a 1-0 loss at high flying Sheffield United, time to pick ourselves up for the visit of 18th place Preston. Preston go into this game on the back of 5 games without a win, lost 3 and drawn 3, and yet they still have a goalscorer, Robinson, on 10 goals, then Browne on 8 and Barkhuizen on 6. We now have Wells, Freeman and Wzolek on 6 each and Eze on 4.
Also worth noting that Preston are third in the 'goals conceded' table, having let in 44 goals in 27 games. This suggests to me that we should have a real go on Saturday, and set out an attacking line up, to go and try and win by a few. Of course I'd be happy with a scrappy 1-0 win, but it'd be nice to see us win by quite a few.
It is, in my opinion, going to be interesting over the next few games to see how things pan out. We've got Preston at home, then Wigan away, then Birmingham at home in the league, and two good wins could see us going into the Birmingham game within touching distance of the playoffs. I know I am crazy and blinded by hope, but a few good wins, and things could begin to shape up for a very interesting end to the season, and I haven't even mentioned the Pompey game, to carry on our cup run (now that is a phrase we haven't heard in a while).
I highly suspect many on here to call me crazy, but I'm just a little optimistic about the direction we are heading in, and I'm beginning to dare to believe again.
Enjoy those who will make it to headquarters on Saturday and...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
