I'm assuming we were first on the EFL highlights show since they expected us to get a thrashing from Norwich. Ha!!!
Looking at this week's fixtures, there is a chance for us to out a bit more daylight between us and 22nd. Plymouth host Swans. Pompey host Norwich. Cardiff host PNE. Hull host Watford. We host Oxford. A pretty good set of fixtures for us.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the bloke who was praised for us having the best injury record in the division last season is now doing the job part-time via Skype from Dubai. Quick turnaround now against a fresh Oxford team because Plymouth were forced to postpone due to a light breeze. Normally a big advantage having a double-header at home.
5 clean sheets in our last 8 games, prior to that we'd managed 5 in our previius 32 games. I'm not sure JCS walks back into this defence tbh (although he'd have to walk, if he ran his legs would fall off).
Interesting choice of words by MC regarding this. He is clearly not happy about some of the work being done behind the scenes
Isn't it refreshing to have such a varied choice for man of the match. It could have been handed to numerous players, all mentioned on here. Dunne, Varane, Kolli etc. I was so pleased to see Kolli bag 2 goals. He was a whisker away from having 3 or 4. The way he worked on and off the ball was excellent. Ironically, he may have only got a couple of minutes if it wasn't for Celars injury, if any at all. I saw him do more in that game than Celar has done all season. Yeah yeah I know Celar was decent in his last couple of outings but Kolli was excellent in this single outing.
I've wanted to see him all season, only because I have a feeling there is a player in there. Still early days but given a run of first team appearances will do him the world of good. I was also impressed with his work off the, he chased down 3 defenders in the 90th something minute. I feel the club is too cautious with the young guns, there have young legs and can run all day long, give them a go!
I wonder if Lloyd hadn't missed a game or two injured if he would have been used instead but couldn't get through 80 mins. Either way Kolli showing what he can do is no bad thing even if the 'New Messiah' chat from younger Rs online is a bit OTT. Wednesday team selection should br interesting.
Their number seven yesterday was supposed to be the danger man wasn't he? Ineffectual, petulant and extremely annoying. No thanks. He did have very shiny hair, though.
The floodlights reflected well off his head... If the Budgies had concerntrated on actually playing football rather than complaining about everything they might have had a bit of joy..... but to think that they were bullied by those huge lads Smyth, Saito Morgan, Kolli is hilarious and shows how weak they are.... it looked as though they thought all they had to do was turn up and we'd roll over and have our tummies tickled...... we showed huge cojons yesterday.....
We pressed high really well yesterday - including Madsen, who even made two or three tackles. In fact his pressing caused the defender's error that led to Kolli's second goal. I'd venture to say that most of our much-derided summer signings are beginning to come good - Nardi and Saito are excellent, Morgan is very good, Varane and Morrison are improving with every game, and I still maintain that Madsen will prove to be a good signing. Down to the manager to keep us up with this group.
So you don’t give Cifuentes any credit for any improvement you’ve seen, but still pleased to blame him for the failures? For the record I think we are still in deep **** and it’s down to the recruitment, the players and the coach.
I'd play Field ahead of Madsen on Weds. Tighten things up. Take Morgan off around 70 mins as that's when he tires and starts making mistakes. Only to be expected of someone so young.
Ok, let's say the that the recent tenuous improvement is down to the recruitment, the players and the coach.
