What puzzled me about the fracas at the end was that Stroud plainly had someone in his ear telling him who to book, probably including Dozzell. If it was the lino, surely he could have just gone over to speak to him directly. I suspect it was the fourth official, which can't be right.
I have to be honest, but it frustrates me when a number of our fans here and on Twitter come out with "forget Stroud, we weren't good enough." I've been critical of the team and Warburton plenty if times this season, for good reason. But when the field of play is not even, what chance do we have? And especially tonight against one of the most expensive squads in the league. Further to that, I honestly don't think I'm overreacting when I say that this season has had the worst officiating I've ever seen in a season, collectively (not just Stroud but other refs and linos).
I agree Strolls. What I saw was the fracas...and afterwards Stroud went around booking people THEN.... a man who looked to be in a raincoat came onto the field...said something..and Stroud went over to Dozzell and showed him a yellow, then a red. Initially I thought it was Parker, I'm sure it wasn't... So I assume it was the 4th official. I was going to ask if that was allowed too
I'm reminded of the time that Zamora was sent off for kicking someone in the head against Wigan. The ref had waved play on and the linesman gave nothing, but someone near the dugouts told the ref that it should be a red. It was pre-VAR and shouldn't have happened.
It was definitely the 4th official who fingered Dozzell for a second yellow but quite why he should have a better view than the ref of a fracas in the corner of the pitch from his spot in the tunnel on the halfway line is a mystery much like many of the other refereeing decisions. Let's face it, we were outplayed for most of the game and I have no real idea how we survived the onslaught at the start of the second half but the predictable gamesmanship orchestrated by the snivelling runt that is Scott Parker still leaves a very bad taste in the mouth.
I only caught the last ten minutes on TV. Don't really see how we can complain about Dozzell. He was on a yellow and got very involved in an aggressive confrontation with their players. Risks the second yellow and red all today. He was stupid to rise to their bait, as was Barbet. I appreciate the frustration, it's annoying when time wasting is that OTT, but getting involved in a fracas won't help.
Agree. Not so much on here but on social media it’s like you can’t have a say or criticise without people thinking they know better. They think they are some superior expert. A game can change on a poor decision/s and tonight that was the case.
What also makes me laugh… They always complain about too many games and that we need a 3 week break at Christmas so the the players can have a rest. Well guess what…. Tonight they said the players were tired and off pace because they hadn’t played for 3 weeks.
Piss poor excuse Surely they must do some hard training Play against the under 23s or whatever Adomah never seems to have any trouble coming off the bench and he doesn't play every week normally
But perhaps not if a number had Covid. We were down to 7 at training according to Warburton and if many of the others were at home sick it is not surprising we looked "rusty" last night. Bournemouth looked a nasty but good team last night.
Pretty poor display. Afraid not able to go as family arrived but watched. I think most of us don't mind losing to the better team but playing against the ref too feels very unfair indeed. Next time he's appointed at a home game, why not arrange a couple of thousand fans to simply block his ability to enter the ground? Uncle changed the pace and opportunities and it is only known to MW why he was brought on then.
Easy to say after the event but I’d have gone with him and Kakay. We were getting outnumbered on our right constantly and often it was Dykes trying to fill in there rather than Chair or Willock. The way they play, we didn’t really need three at the back with often no one to mark at all.
Missed the game due to the influence of Peroni and sambuca, really struggling to even follow what happened in the game. Urghhh
I thought Dunne was man marking Solanke. At the start he was doing pretty well, he certainly picked his pocket a couple of times on the half way line. Solanke got away a couple of times...but after all he is a class player, and winner of the same "young" player award that Messi won. I also thought Kakay started defensively quite well.. However he cannot cross a ball under pressure, which is not ideal for a wing back. Anyone seen a replay of the fracas at the end, whether Dozzell deserved a yellow, and who was the guy who told Stroud about Dozzell. Also does the replay of the free kick that led to the goal, show Field was fouled once/ twice...did he foul the Bournemouth player or did he dive. And were we denied a penalty in the second half? So many questions
Their behaviour is comical in all honesty, I wonder if they spend time on the training pitch practising the falling over and rolling around under the direct coaching of that odious brylcream boy Parker !!!
