So pleased to have been at this match with a friend who is a QPR fan but not a regular attender. Possibly tempt him back!
The first half was not that great in truth. I thought we were second best to too much and were giving them a lot of space. Having said that, they were not able to do much with it.
Wells took his goal really well and it was not an easy one. He had a lot to get right, and he did to the delight of the home fans. I don't think Kelly was called into action much at all for the first half.
Eze's goal was a wonderful blend of composure and skill. A little bit of good fortune in that the defender's touch on the ball caused it to bounce off Eze's shin and go forward enabling Eze to leave the defender behind and chase the ball, wait until their keeper had committed himself and then thread it past him onto the next. Home rapture.
I may not be popular for this but I thought it was a penalty. A tackle from behind is always going to run that risk and, unless there is strong contact with the ball, the penalty will be given in some cases as was here. Feel sorry for Barbet and appreciated his apology but he was otherwise solid in the rest of the game so forgiven - again!
I felt we were growing in confidence and always seemed more of a threat then Blackburn whose passing was solid, but unexciting, and seldom leading to threat in front of goal.
BOS took his goal really well. Again, much harder than it looked since he had to fend of their man, turn and shoot with only a fraction of a second to determine where the keeper was and guide it past him. Well deserved for all his hard work.
Hugill always looks hungry to score and that is great! He is no Heider Helgeson in the air but he is a big fella and he added to the momentum of the ball with power from his shoulder and neck muscles to place the ball beautifully past their 6' 5" keeper.
At 4:1 it seemed unlikely the three points were at risk but nobody told Blackburn that who got more energised and threatened more in the last 15 or 20 minutes than the previous 70 or so. Lovely through ball from their winger with a pin point connection to make it 4:2. Three points still not under threat but 4:1 would have been a nice score and would have made us winners by the biggest margin in this league yesterday.
The old adage that football is a game of two halves (because it is!) often seems to work for QPR in that after a fairly pedestrian first half, the 'other' QPR team emerged from the tunnel, upped their game and got a good result. We seem to be able to do this especially at home, less so away.
A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. Well dome MW and The Lads.

Great day with my two Yankee guests too RTID (even taking into account the pole blocking sight of the Loft goal). A couple of lucky mascots, methinks!
I thought we should have had a pen when a defender placed 2 hands on Eze's back in the box and pushed him over, or arguably he could have stayed on his feet, but a push and pen nevertheless.
From a shot behind the goal I thought Barbet got the ball before Dack who fell over him/went down like Eze, not a pen for me, though from the angle in all the clips on the media it looks more a pen than it did from behind the goal.
So the result should have been 5-1 or 5-2 at worst. Perhaps I'm biased.....

Whilst his distribution wasn't perfect and we took one or two unnecessary risks to play out from the back, Kelly looked very comfortable with the ball at his feet. However, there was one awful moment in the second half when the ball was bobbling about at head height in the 6 yard box and he froze.... Lumley would have claimed that ball. For me, the jury's still out.
I, too, like this brand of football but it's not to everyone's taste. There were loads of dinosaurs around me in C Block who were moaning about us "passing the ball backwards all the time". I wish they would be more patient: what's the point of lumping the ball forward if no one is available? I much prefer us to be patient, avoid giving the ball away cheaply, to wait for a player to have found a little bit of space. This is proper football and I thought we did it so well yesterday. There were very few passes that went astray cheaply and that's not because we didn't try some quite inventive passes at times. Provided we mix it up with some occasional quick releases - which we do - I'd much rather build from this base than always look for a quick pass with a low probability of finding the intended target.
I'm really enjoying this football and, notwithstanding our recent defeats, I hope we stay true to this philosophy because it will underpin a further improvement in our results.

Another vital 3 points from a game we should be looking from something for. 3 points off top and 11 off the drop zone, who wouldn't have taken that at this stage? Along with some decent football
Something I noticed when listening to the radio, so many expensive signings getting absolutely slated, the 70 odd mill lad at Arsenal and Fred at Utd, a lot of the outstanding performances are coming from players coming through. Also Everton have splashed a fortune and currently right in the relegation mix. Could there be a bit of a swing away from these type signings? I understood big fees were played to get established players who could be relied on to get a job done... this doesn't seem to be the case, more of an expensive gamble.

Re Chair......I thought that was great as well but would have preferred he had done it in the 90th min or certainly later in the game than the 72nd minute he came off with the score being 3-1 with 18 mins plus 5 added time to go.....could have backfired.
Thought 1st half was quite low key until we scored.....(fans and players) . I suppose understandable after 2 defeats. Blackburns front 4/5 have a wealth of experience and indeed are good players but possibly not so strong at the back and certainly not as big as what we have come up against recently. So, this was a good win. We seemed intent on finding a QPR player 1st half.......,which is great but at times meant Eze in particular had too many touches and slowed play down and eventually passed ball backwards from some good positions. That is possibly a harsh criticism of a very good player but with his talent he should be seeing some 1st time passes now. Most of the performances were good.....Leistner exceptional and I would be concerned if he wasn't fit. Kelly looks like a schoolboy and will be found out against big teams . Not impressed atm as he seems nervous and although seemed ok on the ball, no better than Lumley and think Lumley is the better shotstopper. A Keeper in the January window for me as it is such an important position and the two we have will continue to make mistakes and some will be very important. I thought Hugill took his goal really well so would like a few more crosses going in when hes on the pitch and not up against a 6ft 6 defender....quite a few times we turned back when in a good position to cross. Wells is playing very well and back to his best....is that 13 between them now?....excellent.
