One of my earliest football memories was cowering on an away coach outside St Andrews in the early 1970s while hordes of Birmingham 'fans' trashed it from the outside (and this after they had thrashed us). You like to think that the times move on and football clubs with it but Birmingham along with Millwall have somehow managed to escape this logic. The sight of bands of Birmingham supporters walking back towards the ground around the backstreets after the game and trying to pick a fight with just about anyone they came across really brought home what an unreformed bunch of louts they are for the most part.

The Birmingham fans were quite unpleasant. They seemed to have a particular dislike for Freeman - I'm not sure why.

yes, saw big firm of oiks walking past me as i went into Ellerslie with my kids. Shoulder barged by one and a few more wearing those big leather gloves with studs / ball bearings on them. not come down to London for the art galleries thats for sure.
