Ok....I disagree IWAWR, it was not the worst match ...seen worse and more recently too....somewhat an over exaggeration
However it was more than bad it was worrying.
We were not that bad, and I could see a sembance of a good team in there....We were within inches of taking over that match....BUT WE DIDN'T
Clint was organising the back four better (should have been sent off admittedly), Hall (one bad slip) but good enough for this level, Konch too. The defence looked far more solid!
Very productive players in Luongo, Chery and Sandro,......Phillips can win matches
All great ....so why am I worried.....because we have all these gifts (gifts to be about the 6-7-8th spot in the championship), and we are struggling against Wednesday, Bolton etc.
That says to me that the brains is not there, the gel is not there, the cleverness to get us across the line is not there.
So having been one of CR strongest supporters...continuity, consolidation and just steadyness this year (I do not want to be promoted this year...we are not good enough)....I cannot see any foundations being laid...That is why I am worried.
And worse than me being worried.....the players are worried....
I cannot see this ending happily
Think you have to stop looking at games in isolation Beth. Sheffield Weds fans can be a lot more aggrieved then us to not get the 3 points anyway.
In 9months in charge Ramsey’s in his 14 competitive homes games he has 3 wins, 4 draws and 7 losses. And those wins were against Rotheram, Newcastle (who were in freefall./ losing something like 12 out of their last 13 at the time) and Bolton (just). 4 draws and 7 loses. That is atrocious however you spin it and however much on the last game you focus on a snap volley and comfortable save over a definite red card and a penalty to the opposition.
Also in that time the manner of the losses and performances in general (even in the victories like against lowly Bolton) have been dreadful. I think you need to analyse the team’s performances as a whole and its nowhere near good enough.
Also this consolidation rubbish is the biggest myth. Cant see a rational argument why we will become a better team after losing likes of Fer, Austin and Sandro and replacing them with lower quality players? Why as we build a team we will be exempt from having the stars of the team poached by bigger teams? Just look as the example of Brentford, many of their fans felt it too soon to get promoted last year. They’ve gone backwards and seen likes of Gray and Odubajo poached.
Promotion and relegation is actually if used properly a tool for improving the team and the club as it gives you resources.
Based on the last 10 years we have a 3% chance of getting promoted in our second season after relgation.Only one team has managed it. Its actually far more likely we will get relegated. Yet to see a coherent argument for consolidation. There is no consolidation with an idiot in charge
Consolidation isn’t exclusive to staying in the same league. What we actually want is to improve as a club- Get the rubbish players (and managers) and ‘bad eggs’ out and bring better players and ‘the right sort’ in.
The more money you have and the higher league you’re in the easier that is and it’s a lie to think otherwise.
Aston Villa and Sunderland have been trying to consolidate in the premiership for a number of years but will likely get relegated.
Watford got promoted and signed 15 players and will probably stay up and build from there.
Really don’t see an onuce of logic in the consolidation argument.
