I wish I could disagree about the footie but I cannot. It was poor despite a much more promising line up than the last home game. However, QPR fans booing and jeering their own fans is bang out of order in my book. If anything were to stop me going to games (and nothing will), it would be those fans since I consider their behaviour an embarrassment. I know we've had this debate before (more than once) and the Boo Boys feel they have a right to do so because they pay for their ticket's etc etc. I'll never know how they think this will help in any way at all. A bitter pill to swallow in most ways tonight.
Delusional!! Hull were unbelievably comfortable. If JFH doesn't make some big decisions about who to select we are very likely to get relegated.
I do. It's straightforward enough. Soon afterwards, the Board made a series of decisions which altered the course of our season. They refused to part with Austin for the best price they could get. The mug suddenly decided he did not like being called a mug and held out for his true worth. They then shifted the goalposts in a series of calculated rolls of the dice. In the space of a couple of weeks, they shifted their position by 180 degrees. Nobody would leave. We were going to surge to promotion with our existing squad.Ramsey had to buck his ideas up. Warnock was appointed to assist him. Not surprisingly, the progress the team had made under Ramsay stalled completely as he became more and more isolated. It's what happens when the owners intervene and interfere in the development of a system of playing. Don't get me wrong - we were far away from being a finished article. You won't achieve much conceding two goals a game. But we were scoring for fun as well and we could all see what needed to be done to make it better. However the Board telling Ramsay that he had to deliver this season effectively acted like a final written warning. It does not work if it comes out of the blue. It demoralised him and we started to set up with the aim of achieving clean sheets at all costs. He was then despatched - his recruits cast into the wilderness. The one bit of bad luck in all this is that Warnock might well have rescued us again if his priorities did not suddenly change. My wishes for the New Year are: 1 The owners declare publicly that the managers and players will not be judged solely on the basis that we achieve promotion or not through the playoffs. 2 TF leaves at the end of the season without announcement or fanfare. 3 That way we will revert to being a football club and not a nouveaux riche wannabe's plaything.
I think must have wanted another Keeper to be given a chance for 2 years now. But now Green is not getting to shots he was last season. He was never gong to reach the 2 that went just past his right post in the first 10 minutes today, if they had gone inside the post, and he was a way off the one that did go in ( where was Konch for that?). Then he gifted Hull their winner.
Totally agree, the club needs to accept this IS a year of consolidation. It's quite clearly so, isn't it?
I fully expect our current poor performance on the pitch and inevitable reductions in commercial income, to result in other negative consequences off the pitch. For example the badly needed investment in training facilities, scouting etc. A new stadium is certainly just a pipe dream Until the owners can see something sustainable on the pitch, investment off it is likely to be slashed I'm not saying that I agree with this approach, but given the amount of money blown in several attempts to keep us in the Premier League I can't see the owners wishing to throw more money down the drain at this stage Indeed, getting further cost out of the club by shifting - if possible - some of the bigger earners out in January is also, in my view, highly likely. It will take an incredible turnaround on the pitch from now on to get us in the play-offs this season, and I think that the owners will take the view that reducing costs in the short term takes priority Short-sighted maybe, but difficult to argue that paying Fer, Sandro etc for the rest of the season will result in promotion. Maybe better to save the cash, gamble that the rest of the squad / some loanees / cheap additions will keep us up Where does this leave Austin? In my view the club will aim to get what they can for him in this transfer window - his goals for the rest of the season won't be sufficient compensation for the striker leaving for free in the summer A truly sh!t start to the New Year
I think there are a lot of over reactions on here. We were only average but not that bad. The team selection looked about right to me. Green cost us a point but thenI've wanted him out for 2 years so the Managers must know more than me. I'd have preferred Luongo to Henry but again the Managers probably know he can't cover well enough. We deserved a point today against the team 3rd in the table DIsaster? No way.
Sat in the cold for the better part of two hours watching another abysmal game. I wonder how many new managers have had such a poor first half dozen games. At the end of the game the fans frustration was palpable and I think already we are only a game or two away from seeing and hearing the jeers ("you don't know what you're doing") that met Ramsay during his last weeks in charge. Despite the awful performance for most of the game the fans remained, in the main, behind the team, desperate for just something to cheer. When Poulter scored (I think from the sole header he got to first in the entire game) the level of noise was immense and the support stayed at that level for the next few minutes. On the whole, I think we are a forgiving and hugely patient lot, but really, how many more awful seasons and utter 5hit performances must we suffer?
Just about nailed it Yorkshire, I still think Ramsey should have been given the season to learn the ropes.
Pricks like Superhoop should be bundled in here as well. Took me a long time to come back here, because of what you say about our fans, who are not supporters any more. But it looks like I'll be gone again until we can get a team together. It was embarrassing tonight. Rs played like they didn't know each other. Henry should be dropped and sold off. He's worthless. Poor Ale - he's been injured for too long, been in England too long, he's lost his Argie game and touch, he's no longer the player we knew. I couldn't believe the middle as they had no idea what to do with the ball besides punting it upfield and hoping for the best. Jimmy has done nothing to the squad. Uncle Neil got more out of these boys. TF has never got the plot, so he's never even had the opportunity to lose it. Cheerio
I would let JFH do his job IMO He hasn't signed anyone or built his team that could take a few seasons if supporters can give him more than 6 games. This is a learning process for everyone including us fans who need to understand that we were lucky to go up in the first place under Redknapp. We are a championship club
Very sound but judging by the response from fans yesterday, Jimmy is not even going to get six minutes from the 'fans'!
