If I was a billionaire businessman with 'vision', one of the last clubs I would like to buy would be QPR!

I'm afraid to say that this is a car crash waiting to happen and Tony Fernandes is the guy falling asleep at the wheel.<ok>
Why?
He kept us up
He got us a proven PL manager
he got us a world class training facility
he got us a top level academy.
All within 11 months. Hes delivered on every promise so far, why would the ground be any different?

He is not the chancer both you and WHU fans thought he was.

I would think it is an excellent move if they build a 30k seater with the option of expanding, but 45k seems over ambitious. Not sure they will grow at a quick enough rate to make that a success but of course none of us know the exact details. Would take a long time to pay back the £180 million regardless of them hosting other events as well.

You cant expand with a roof although building a 35k ground would be sensible and then expand in 10 years time.

It would take 10 years to pat for itself just with football income.
It could be 5-8 years with a hotel and other things like concerts, boxing, etc.

Well, I guess there are lots of people on this whole forum that make moot points on a very regular basis. Just like your reply to Beefy.<ok>

Explain what you think your point is please old chap.
The very 'special' poster that is 'Beef', seemed to think Fernandes's wealth was important.
But seeing as he's just the front man for a Malaysian consortium, I thought I'd set him straight that it's not.
Maybe you should look up the definition of 'moot'<ok>

I understand that, but maybe you could build a 35k seater with the option of going up to 45k and a roof after? You do need a stadium though so may as well do it properly. As previously mentioned you would be naive to think it would pay for it self in 10 years or less, no chance that would happen.

With all due respect , im not convinced you'll be saying anything considering this matter in 18 months time, cos norwich will be playing in the championship and QPR are chasing the euro-place while waiting for a new stadium..........

QPR won't be a functioning football club in 18 months time

I won't even click the link, cos you're a ****ing idiot!

Let me spell it out for you then

Portsmouths 600m brand new stadium, all the plans laid out, everything was going so well, they were gunning for Europe "Big Money" backers. they talked about concerts and all manner of shindigs to.

Whatever happened to them

hmm...

We all can't wait for it to fail

Well you all are going to have a long, long wait ahead. You obviously like to compare us with pompey. Well, pompey were pompey and us are us. Pompey weren't backed as rich and ambitious owners as QPR are right now. Its more than money at loftus road as we purchased some of sportsworlds capable experts (Phil Beard and Mike Rigg) to the club. Its ridicolous to think that we are going to face same destiny as pompey. We are going for places and your lot not. Simple as that. You are going down with hughton to where you belong

We beat you twice easily last season and I can't see any indication that buying a load of OAP's is going to change us from doin that again.

QPR aren't a football club anymore, your a duty free shop. The money you "have" isn't real, it's like the Ipswich fans that waved money at us all over again. If your owner has all this cash why are you buying a Manu reject that has never cemented a place for 2m? That's not ambitious, that's stupid. The team won't work, it's like a there's a 12 year old playing championship manager 2006 controlling your club.

Meh, we've been pretty dysfunctional for the last god-knows how many years!

Seriously though, I can't remember who made the point earlier, but these guys haven't become multimillionaires or billionaires by throwing money away. They've got a plan, and it has to be one of the following:

1) They're in it for the long haul, and plan to make the money back after the stadium has paid for itself. They're aware that currently they're throwing money into a hole, but will ensure that there is enough investment in the side to keep the club competitive in the Premier league, in order to build the fan base and start earning money from the club in teh next 20-30 years.

2) They're in it to make a quick profit by selling us on, as a much more desirable package. How much is an established Premier League club worth these days? And again, how much would an established Premiership club with a very new ground be worth in 5 years time (give or take) if the economy is back on it's feet

3) They've caught the blue and white insanity, and don't care how much they throw at the club. It's become a passion rather than a business idea. Don't rule this one out - after all, Ahmit Bhatia was seen crying at the Stoke game (I think), and Fernandes owns Caterham racing team. Which is a hell of a good way to lose money.

Of the three, I think that the first scenario is most likely, although I wouldn't rule out a mixture of scenarios one and 3....! We've seen what owners that fir into category two look like, and they're a very different breed to the guys we have now.

That said, after the blind optimism that started probably on thursday when news of Park signing first escaped into the world, started to wear off, I did begin to worry, and I do consider that 45k is too large for our needs at the moment. All I can do is put my faith in the board, and especially Phil Beard (who was the man responsible for turning the Millennium Dome into the O2 Arena, and did a very good job at that) to know what they are doing and the plans that are in place, especially if we do go down, won't turn us into the next Portsmouth or Leeds, as has been said several times above.

Having said that, if the difference in quality of our signings this time next year is as far ahead again as the difference between last year and this (compare and contrast, last year we signed Barton, this year we signed Park ffs!!), then in 2-3 seasons time we might be challenging for a European spot, either through the cup or scraping 7th in the league.

Beef, say what you like, but Park is a big step up from what we've currently got, and I think he's probably a big step up from your wide man at the moment?

Either way, hope you guys do well next season. I like (most) of the banter we have together, and Hughton deserves a good run at a Premier league club - he should never have been sacked by the Geordies IMO.

Beef, would you PLEASE, for the LOVE OF GOD and all that is holy: Get rid of that picture of a fu*king grinning nufter from your Avatar because every time I see you pop up, I start pissing myself laughing!!! <laugh>

Jesus Christ man! Have you any idea how GAY that looks?! I just can't take anything you post seriously!

C'mon for fu*k sake, get your sh*t together. Your fellow Canaries must cringe every time other fans visit this Board and see that sh*t.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean. I'm on my phone at the minute and it doesn't have a "stupid ****ing mockney" language filter.

It would pay for itself if the games were sold out (nearly .5m extra per game), but that wont happen but the other things will make up for it, hotel, concerts etc.

It wouldnt be practical to extend with a roof on, it would cost so much money that the extra 10k seats wouldnt pay for itself for decades.
