According to Mark Palios QPR are almost certain to receive a points deduction from the FA and that the deduction for knowledgeable playing of ineligible players is a minimum of 10 points.

In my opinion that would not be good for us.

Firstly, if Cardiff get promoted it will radically diminish any chances we have of signing Ant Gerrard permanently.
Secondly, if QPR fail in gaining promotion to the Prem thru the play-offs, they would surely be MASSIVE favourites to do so next year as they have been far and away the best team in the Championship this season. This again would have an adverse effect on our chances of getting promoted next season.

Much as I dislike Colin ****** and DQPR, I hope they go up this season even if morally they don't deserve it because they have effectively cheated, as that would improve our chances of getting the player permanently that has surely been our player of the season and will enhance our chances of gaining promotion next season.
 
I thought it was just a dodgy third party ownership thing rather than Faurlin being ineligible? If he was ineligble then they do deserve a points deduction but if it's just down to complex ownership dealings then I don't see how it affects what goes on on the pitch and they should be left alone. Either way I don't like them much.

As far as promotion is concerned. I think Cardiff have a much better squad than QPR so they would be a greater threat to us next season, although they do seem to fall at the final hurdle every year, but your point about Gerrard is very important. I think it's going to be as simple as if they go up we won't get him and if they stay down we will.

The rules regarding third party ownership were clearly established under the Tevez affair. The fact they have breached this rule (allegedly) means that the player has effectively been ineligible. There is no precedence for this so the parallel with the punishements well established for fielding ineligible players will be made because Faurlin has effectively been playing whilst not legally registered.
 
Can't see a deduction myself but I think it would be piss funny if it happened after the dickheads were on the pitch against us. Apologies if I'm being thick but I can't follow the logic on the Gerrard side of things - why would they sell him to a rival Championship club if they stay down but not sell him if they went up when they clearly don't rate him as good enough to play in the Cmapionship, never mind the prem?

Don't think they want him much either way, but it seems if they go up his wage quadruples and he'll be on a deal we couldn't get anywhere near. If they stay down he's on a chmpionship wage and not playing, so from his point of view he may want to leave for a similar wage where he would be playing.

There were no third party ownership rules in the Football League when Faurlin signed, the rules were brought in when he was already a QPR player(they were introduced in the Premier League ahead of the Football League). This is not so much a case of him being ineligible, it's more about QPR trying to hide some dodgy dealings with doctored paperwork when he signed his new contract.
 
Hey Our promotion prospects are NOT linked to whether or not we sign Gerrard. We have a cracking CB in Chester, we have an excellent chance of getting both Ayala and Hobbs both are equally as good (if not better if you judge a player on being capable of passing a ball)

FFS loose the idea that Gerrard is a great player, he's a massive personality, big presence but that isn't necessary to a good footballing side. QPR, Norwich and most of the sides above us don't have a character in their sides like Gerrard. They have bright, fast, quality players.
 
If QPR don't go up, they won't be interested in Jimmy either (if they ever was). This will be massive if it happens.
 
Now not being able to get Bullard off our books will definately have a greater impact on our promotion prospects in terms of team development.

Sorry, but I don't agree.

QPR have Shaun Derry as their "character", I call it Leader.
Norwich have Grant Holt.
Cardiff have Mark Hudson.
Swansea have Gary Monk.
Reading have Matt Mills.

All these players are BIG characters, they are what pulld the team together on the pitch.

I think Gerrard is a very good player, but I think he is a much better leader.
 
I hope this doesn't happen, mainly because QPR have already said that they will take the Football League to court if they deduct them points. It could take years to sort out and cause major problems to the play-offs and the league next year. If they do deduct them points carry it over to the PL please

If they carry it over to next season then depending on the size of the penalty there's the potential for legal cases to be brought by:

3rd place - should have been promoted automatically
6th place - in the event they lose to 3rd place in the playoffs they'll have been beaten by a team that should have been promoted automatically.
4th or 5th - in the event they're beaten in the final by 3rd place they'll also have been beaten by a team that should have been promoted automatically. Could potentially be both if the semi-final loser claims they could have won a one off game but not a two legged affair due to suspensions/injuries to key players clearing up and they'd have both had easier games in the semis.
7th place - should have been in the playoffs and wasn't.

Now fundamentally I do agree we need a character, the difference is not most if not all the guys you've quoted arnt bad players in fact all on them can pass a ball and quality wise they're in front of someone who is getting idolised 'ahead of time'

Now to provide an example, when I was single and spent too many weeks with 'pam' that ugly pig in the corner of LA's got prettier every time I saw her, eventually I was riding her like Lance Armstrong on the final straight of the tour de France. Point being that we've been missing that for a while, the minute we have someone who ticks a couple of the boxes it's like everyone thinks he's the dogs bollocks ( to use a Viz'ism)

He's not the dogs bollocks thrust me, he's a big thick lump with a big gob. He's not John Terry, Rio Ferdinand, or our very own Michael Turner.

PAH!!

Listen, last time we went up we had a mean, nasty, ugly mother****er on the pitch called Ian Ashbee. They value of such a character TO THE TEAM is massively greater than the value of his footballing skills.

Ant Gerrard is no Rio Ferdinand, but then we are no Man United.
