Heard an interesting take on the World Cup from a genuine footie fan. Rates international footie well ahead of pl in terms of enjoyment. None of the nonsensical transfer bullshit. Little to do with cash but players actually wanting to play for their countries. Interesting viewpoint I’d say
I guess the other positive is you are genuinely supporting players from your own country

When you over analyse club football, why do you support any particular club. It’s owned by foreign nationals, if you have one player born and bred in the same city as the team you support it’s a miracle, us supporters are a weird bunch really

And difficult to form any sort of bond with players who you know won’t be at the club in two years or even less. Fans spend more time speculating on transfers these days than actually discussing football

It’s not about forming a bond with the players, it’s all about the club. No room for sentimentality in football. In fact, our loyalty to the players that got us promoted might possibly be what’s holding back our progression.

Was back in my early days. It was almost unimaginable to have a player move away. Many stayed a decade at the club. The players were the club. All clubs are now are money masking conveyor belts

That’s because all of them were very good, if not, great players but at some point you have to move players on.
