Goodall and Carr played bowls for GB in the Empire Games in the 1950s. Cannot remember how they did as the short term memory is not so good these days.

I think it's more a case of the law-makers have hamstrung referees to a degree. Imagine if Clive Thomas was a referee under the current rules.
