All linked by the writer ? Hugo lived on both Jersey and Guernsey whilst in exile - and wrote Les Miserables during this period. His play Mangerot-ils? (Will they eat ?) was set on the Isle of Man (supposedly in the middle ages). Can't think of another connection with the Isle of Man.
You have the Channel Islands connection correct - the book was first published while he was in exile in Guernsey but it is believed it was started when he was in exile in Jersey before being exiled from Jersey for criticism of Queen Victoria. The Isle of Man connection is with the recent film.
