It certainly was - the US joint Army & Navy Basic War Plan Red, drawn up to estimate the requirements for a hypothetical war with the United Kingdom, was just one of fifteen colour-coded plans drawn up for possible 'action' around the world. It wasn't actually declassified until 1974 - a trusting and friendly bunch those Yanks... Over to you.
Cheers BB. A quickie here. Which country in the World has the oldest defined land borders ? ie. the borders have been the most stable for the longest time.
Probably one of the old Himalayan kingdoms.... only two left now... Bhutan ( where I used to live) or Nepal?
Neither of those Yorkie. It is also the only border in the World which can be crossed using a zipline (ie. a cable suspended above an incline, with pulley and harness). The answer is quite surprising.
Although Andorra has not been completely independent since then BB. It has been under Spanish rule many times since then, during which time it was a 'Lordship'. The country I am thinking of has had a stable border/borders for nearly as long as Andorra, but has been a sovereign state the whole time.
Portugal is the country I was thinking of BB. They had a dynastic union with Spain at one time, and built ships for the Spanish fleet, but remained autonomous. Over to you. The border itself has not changed since 1292.
" Countess Constance Markievicz was the first woman elected to the House of Commons, in 1918. However, as a member of Sinn Fein, she did not take her seat. The first woman to be elected and to take her seat was Viscountess Nancy Astor in 1919."
