Which would you say is better out of the PS4, XBox One S, or Xbox One X?
It's for youngish kids who mostly play Minecraft, Roblox and Lego games.
Currently have an Xbox 360.
Their TV isn't 4K at the moment.
I would probably pay for the subscription to access games online - either £10pcm or £50pa isn't it?
 
Microsoft have just bought Zenimax media for just under £6 billion. Zenimax own Bethesda, makers of Skyrim and Fallout amongst other games. This could be a bit of a game changer in years to come when it comes to which console gets exclusivity on games as it's one of the criticisms xbox gets compared to playstation. This could well be microsoft positioning themselves to possibly get future Bethesda titles under a pc/x-box exclusive. Not saying it deffo will happen but it does make sense as a reason for the aqusition.

With the game passes on digital only it’s often cheaper to buy games online anyway, I paid £7 for NBA 2K this year on a deal, £11 for F1.

Price of 4K TVs now is crazy, I get a new TV most years in November in Black Friday deals, paid £800 last year for a TV that even now is £1,300, I’ll be looking for an 8K one this year even though there’s no content, purely for these new games consoles.

Broadcast 4k just like HD isn't quite as good as Blu-ray quality. Bigger issue for me though is sound, the difference between lossless Dolby TrueHD or DTS Master Audio and the ****e streaming audio is massive and for that reason alone I far prefer disks to streams

Out of those the One X is the best, but also the priciest, however if you don't own a 4K TV then it's not worth it. I personally preferred my Xbox One S to the PS4. I pay I think £10.99 a month and that gets me Xbox live (gold) and another subscription which gives you a library full of games (for free). And there are some decent titles on there.

The 4K is a red herring really, on the next gen the games are completely different and that’s gonna impact even without the better picture quality.

I genuinely wouldn’t even look at last gen consoles as in reality it’s gonna want replaced in a couple years and it’s a short term false economy.

Better to be setup for 4K than to have to upgrade again when you are, the price difference on the digital editions v a One X isn’t massive.

The only value in a One S or X is gonna be used now.

Any lads on here on older generations you can have my Xbox One gratis when I get next gen delivered.

Makes no odds to me mate, all my pals either have them or will be going next gen, I couldn’t be arsed with the chow on of selling it so happy to give it away.

Folk are battered financially at the minute if you can help someone along it’s a nice thing to do ain’t it.

Best value is the series S. Monster of a machine for the price. Upgraded a few months ago.

My son plays it mostly now ,. Playing the games you listed. Loves it.

Did the game pass ultimate hack too. Paid 73 up front for 3 years worth of ultimate. Bette than 11 quid a month over the 3 year. Great value. My son is actually playing Minecraft as we speak. That was on game pass ultimate for free too.

I've pretty much given up looking for the time being, I'm happy enough cracking on with my PS4 for now. Problem is that we'd also need a new tv to take advantage of it and my three year old is still in the habit of putting his paws on it, be gutted to get a new tv and he scratches it or something.

New God of War looks brilliant.

Aye God of War looks amazing, I'll probably get that one. I managed to get mine from studio.co.uk with modern warfare 2 and fifa 23.

Modern Warfare 2 is class, best one since the original COD 4 Modern Warfare imo. Really good campaign.

I got a good increase in wage after moving jobs and planned to get my self a ps5 as a treat when they were more available! In that time the bills have ****ing shot up so much there is no disposable income anymore.

I don't play my ps4 anymore as it sounds like the a ****ing chinook has decided to turn my living room in to its landing zone! Guess I'll have to take the consolation prize of buying a new fan for about 30 quid and given it a overhaul instead of a ps5.

Exactly what happened to my ps4, I couldn't hear the TV for the noise it was making.

The ps5 is physically a massive machine

Yeah, I always think I'll put it on for a bit then 5 minutes in turn it off as the noise is so loud. The plan was to just get a ps5 but think I'll have to fix it. I opened it up about 2 year ago and blasted all the dust out and that quietened it for a bit but I've done that recently and that hasn't worked. Think it's the fan and thermal paste need replacing.

My son’s ps5 is less than a year old. Has now crashed twice. Unable to load any games. Only got it back from Sony a month ago! Bit pissed off
