Now I'll get this out of the way now, please don't spam other active boards promoting the site, we wouldn't want it here so we shouldn't dish it out elsewhere. Right then, to the point. Much like back when BBC606 was closing down I thought it worthwhile we have a thread to discuss how to promote and grow this board. I've created a official (unofficial) twitter page for us www.twitter.com/Not606F1 which I hope to use to poke some comments to the big players of F1 and F1 broadcasts, hopefully to spark up some interest. I can give out the log in details to trusted members to keep it active if anyones interested. Are there any boards shutting down that we could promote on? If you comment on blogs do you subtly mention not606 or have it in your username? Anyone got any thoughts on how to drum up some interest for March? Cheers
JA606 must be first priority. tsheporam runs a dictatorship on there and people are getting sick of the ****e he's typed out. It is very empty at times but some of the member's seem nice. I don't mind setting up an account on there to help try and convince them we are a much more balanced board. We need to appeal to the least populated boards first.
Ok, cheers I know the F1 side of Ja606 is dead but we have to be careful not to annoy anyone. Also this site has loads of members, surely there must be more F1 fans who use the site but just don't know the f1 board is active...
Would love to get Flat Over Crest on here, very knowledgeable fella who would occassionally pop up on BBC606, when he wasnt driving for a private Porsche outfit in the ALMS if all is to be believed
sounds a good idea. Apparently the f1 forum on ITV is closing, but that was a while ago and I dont know if its closed yet or not
Maybe start commenting more on ScarbsF1? I can't imagine too many WUMs,etc, will be reading his material.
Might try some promotion for live chat during the practice sessions next month, see if we can attract members during the relative quiet times.
tweeting the commentary team during the practices has a chance of being read out as well, but that'll have to wait until March
Why don't we go on F1 drivers twitter's and ask for a retweet like a lot of people do. That might work.
Sounds like a plan, I'll keep an eye out for any F1 news that might spark interest in a driver then try and get re-tweeted (damn twitter talk)
I'd advise writing a few articles. Watford used the article system quite heavily in 2011. The end result was that a lot of casual viewers of the front page instantly saw that the Watford forum existed and was active, and that opposition fans knew that they could post relevant threads on our forum knowing that they'd get a response.
I'll keep an eye out for stuff to promote to article. Mick's just moved us to a new server by the way This will stop the football transfer deadline slowing down the site, and therefore us.
I'll start putting articles on NewsNow again, and soon the bbc will kick off regular F1 blogs which may give us a chance for a cheeky heads up
Just seen your plug on Benson's blog, I was just about to add my own, nice one. One question though, do we want prospective posters looking at our forum and one of the first threads they see be a discussion about how to get more traffic? Should we shift this over to The Pits?
True, but I hope it will be seen that we are always actively looking for ways to improve and expand the board Never stand still
Thats a fair argument. Can anyone think of anywhere else we could promote? I think getting a tweet read out during free practice, etc, would be helpful.
