Not that am dismissing the views you are expressing, but there are plenty of pundits on MOTD who have UEFA badges that talk utter hindsight laden drivel about football, so I would not put much weight on that.

Whoever this person is he's just cycled through all the same lazy, half-formed thoughts that always get repeated lately. Sounds very much like your average moaning football fan to me.

You said nobody understands the graph. What you actually meant is you don't.

'Direct speed (m/s)' is fairly simple. It's the average speed the ball moved by a particular team. Teams that move the ball quicker are higher and teams that move the ball around slower are lower on the Y axis.

To be fair if the direct speed is how quick a team progresses the ball up the pitch then the stat has weight. However, if it is as stated that it is just literally ball speed regardless of direction then its a bit more difficult to measure.

If it was the first one then I don't know how you could measure that in metres per second, or what that would really represent if you did. That's what initially made me suspicious of the stat. Never even crossed my mind that it would be the movement speed of the ball in any direction as Kalman seemed to be suggesting.

I'll probably regret bumping this miserable thread but it seemed the best place to put this. Really good (I think) explanation from Notts County's manager on why they take a lot of short corners, how it relates to their style of play and how people don't always perceive what's happening. Sounds a lot like our style.

Interesting listen tbf.

Just an FYI though, a thread that has pretty amicable decent discussion ( for the most part ) from different views and opinions isn't a "miserable thread" just because you don't agree with some of views and opinions and make comments like that just make you look a bit of a Tit ;)
