"Sadly it's not surprising. The Championship - if you look at teams that are up there consistently, I look at Coventry last season, Mark Robins has been there a long time and imprinted his way of playing," Rosenior tells Hull Live. "Luton, Rob Edwards took over a team that had a way of playing under Nathan (Jones). Teams that have stability and consistency normally end up where they want to be.
"It's no surprise and it's mad that in the Championship I'm the 12th (longest serving manager), it's ridiculous, I haven't had 12 months in this job. That's up to owners to make decisions, they put their money into the club. I feel really fortunate that I'm well-backed here and there's long-term thinking and I want to be here in the long term as well. I know I need to get results in the short term, but I know with Acun and Tan, they're seeing the benefits of working in this way as well."
During the recent international break, Rosenior spent a couple of days with vice-chairman Tan Kesler at his East Yorkshire home and says the pair covered a whole range of topics, not just the first team, but the whole club.
"Everything," he said when asked what was on the agenda. "I speak to Tan about how we can improve as a team, off the pitch with the staff, how we can maybe look at different roles within the club to help the performance on the pitch, how we can grow. I like to take a look at the bigger picture, how the club looks financially, really good chats and Tan's a great guy.
"I spent two days with him, I spent a night at his house which was lovely and spent time with his dog. We took a walk in the morning which was nice, but it's good when you have that time to take a look at things overall, how we can improve, how we can improve the academy structure, how can we improve the first team, how can we improve the staff? So many things go into the way that we want to work."
While Rosenior is edging towards his 12-month anniversary, it will soon be two years since Ilicali took over the club from the clutches of the Allam family, and the popular head coach believes things are very different to what they were, with attendances regularly above 20,000 and a feel-good factor around the club.
"If I compare this club to when Acun took over this club, it's like chalk and cheese in every aspect," Rosenior continued. "The engagement from the fans and the community. The team, maybe I'm biased but I think the team is completely different for positive reasons in the time that I've been here.
"The academy, I watched them against Barnsley and they're trying to play in exactly the same way that we play at first-team level so we'll have that continual growth through. Young Stan Ashbee trained with us this week, he's only 17. He looks like he's going to be a really good asset and a really top player.
"I'm starting to learn about the academy and what's great is they're starting to learn about our style of play from the age of 16 or 17. It's like the iceberg, there's a lot of stuff happening underneath that won't show until the end of the process but there's so much good happening. It's not down to me, it's down to the staff especially Acun and Tan who had this kind of holistic thinking for the football club."
Saturday's late home loss to Southampton was an obvious setback and more will inevitably follow but Rosenior remains confident he retains the absolute support of Ilicali. "Yeah, I think so, they say that to me (he has their support). I have great conversations with Acun, great conversations with Tan, they're really open.
"They tell me where they think we can improve and I agree with them. It's great because every time they give me their opinion, I agree with what they have to say on the whole. Then I speak about the more in-depth, in-detail things that it's my job as a coach to see and bring up to them.
"We're all on the same page and I think that shows in the team's performances. We've been consistent, we've lost two in 11, we should have had more wins, for sure,
two in 18 at home in the year, two in 11 this season playing some very good teams away from home who are up there, we're on track, we're alright."
