Just a thought and I don’t know if anyone has already mentioned this but am I right in thinking that when Russell Martin was at Swansea that there were a lot of their fans who were complaining about his style of football?
If that was the case, it just makes me wonder what has changed since he’s gone to Southampton. Is it just down to better players/squad available to him and they have been better at implementing his system or has he made some changes to it, does anyone have any insight?

Hull and back pod did a Swansea preview with one of their vloggers offering exactly that insight.

Just search "To hull and back podcast" on YouTube and I think it's the last video they uploaded.

Some say he's actually three chimps in a long coat standing on each others shoulders.

And some say he once consumed an entire portion of fish and chips without even unwrapping the paper.

    All we know is...

He plays a similar way, but Southampton have a much better squad than Swansea do so with more technical players you're going to do better.

Makes you wonder why the likes of Millwall and Stoke are struggling though, have they abandoned their brand of aggressive, full contact, direct football and if so, is there room for a team to be absolute ****houses and play long ball with a Tom Eaves like forward who...

Oh. We're playing them tomorrow night.

If that’s the case, we should expect to see an improvement because we certainly have a lot more technically gifted players than we had before the window but apart from that 20 minute spell against Millwall, we’ve actually looked worse. On Saturday, the only one of our players who showed any sign of using that ability was Omur when he came on. The others looked like they hadn’t touched a ball for weeks and allowed themselves to be collectively out fought all over the pitch.
Hopefully, Rosie can find some answers and quickly.

There's always going to be a process of integrating players and **** like Saturday happens from time to time.

Hopefully it's going to improve from here. There haven't been many as bad as that and we generally get a reaction when it is.

I'd start Omur tomorrow in place of Slater, have Tufan drop in a bit deeper.

Connolly and Omur in for Carvalho and Slater for me. Give Carvalho a wake up call that he can't just coast to 19 (or whatever it'd be) starts.

    Yeah, and they're bottom.

We should win, surely we must win ...

Cue 'typical city' and a Tom Eaves masterclass... <laugh>

Never thought I'd say this, but based on Docs last start and Fantastico's last couple I'd consider starting Doc somewhere.

If only to demonstrate to the show-ponies that they have to earn the right to be in the ring in the first place.

    I'd go:

    Alsopp
    Coyle, Jones, Greaves, Giles
    Morton, Traore
    Abdulkidir, Tufan, Philogene
    Connolly.

If Coyle isn't fit stick Slater there or bring Doc in to the middle instead of Adama if it's going to be attritional.

Apparently he once survived a re-take of the end scene in quadrophenia, just to impress Leslie Ash.

Still ended up shagging Lee chapman anyway.

    *Leslie, not Lambo AFAIK...

It doesn't matter how bad Carvalho plays, he won't get dropped, FACT.

I know I’m late on this but both Greaves and Jobes win a lot of defensive headers at about 25yds out they are good at it . It’s because they are facing the ball and have a few yds to run and jump . In the box they are almost always pretty static and around the penalty spot . We’ve said it before but we NEVER have anyone coming in from the back corner of the box where the ball often goes and where if you run in from you get more height . Turner Dawson etc all were broader built stronger players imo .

I think this is a problem LR needs to solve. We clearly need the quality players on the pitch if we want to create and score, but we also need a higher level of intensity and urgency than we've had in the last two games. I think overconfidence and under-urgency has been an issue throughout the season, I don't mean in terms of speed of passing, but in terms of simply the desire to kill games off, to stop opposition attacks before it's too late and to strike ruthlessly when the gaps open up in the opposition defence.

LR has started to hint at this being an issue recently. Question for me is whether he can fix it without having to leave out too many good quality players.

Why do people say things like this as if LR just plays people because he signs them?

Carvalho’s a cracking player, off one bad appearance he doesn’t need dropping so why would Rosie do that? Rosie signed Lokilo, he’s already gone, so it’s not as though he favours players he has signed.

I reckon Slater will drop out and Omur will come in, it’s a good game for him to get to grips with a physical Championship side.

Two bad games for Carvalho. He was invisible against Millwall too.

In fitting with the theme of this team, he's young and inconsistent.
