Don't need the winter window thread clogged up so thought a new one was worth it.

My tuppence...

Whatever has gone on behind the scenes a player that refuses to play deserves **** all respect. Loan him to the Afghan 3rd tier to sweat out his contract. Alternatively make him clean the scholars boots

None of us will know exactly what has happened so in situations like that i prefer to side with the club

The club has the clubs best interest at heart (whether we agree with the decision or not) and pritchard has his own best interest at heart (which is fair enough)

Also people will stick up for him as they like him and things havent been great around the club recently. If we had been a winning run and he did this more of them would be going mental

I am only sticking up for him as I believe the information I was told.

Do you not find it out that KS come out and said he was integral, an important player for us and he is happy.

Then a day later he has refused to play etc.

Massive shame for me but yeah, I do side with the player in this instance due to what I have been told. If I knew nothing different, the way it's unfolded absolutely makes it look like the player has down tools and stealing a wage.

He will be away now, get a 2 year deal elsewhere. Hope the club has his wages and get some quality in.

And thats fine mate, i get you have been told information in good faith and thats what you believe has happened - nothing wrong with that

The club has to offer him the contract that they feel is best for the club. I dont think KS should have said anything about the contract offer, i prefer all that to stay behind closed doors. Other fans say we should know what is going on and there was a lot of noise from supporters saying we should be offering pritchard a contract so i kinda get him saying 'well we have offered him one and hes important to us'

I still stand by what i said, folk will stick up for him more as they like him and think hes a quality player.

Think i said yesterday, im a bit old school and feel you should be honouring the contract that you are on. Hate footballers refusing to play so they can either get a move or better contract - personally think iys disgraceful and get even more angry when they refuse to play for my club

None of us will truly know what has happened, itll be a he said she said situation

We move on without him and as you said we need to put the freed up wages to good use - n give rigg more minutes

Short term i think we will miss pritch but long term we will be better off that its happened now

I liked Pritchard and almost fell into the trap I always warn people about in having a hero ...

... as people have said Gooch is much less talented but much more worthy of that accolade.

I had my suspicions about Pritchard when I stood in a sold out crowd on a cold night at Huddersfield. He totally raised his game and scored after a top speed run to the six yard box ... after which he runs away from his team mates, and the away support, straight to the Huddersfield fans to taunt them.

Funny in a way but slightly wrong I thought ...

... just another Chris Maguire, well balanced with a chip on both shoulders.

In any job there's a penalty for refusing to do the job you are contracted to, no matter what has gone on if the club thought they made him a decent offer then he should've just said no, instead he let the club and the fans down by refusing to play. The bloke can get the feck for me

That's how it's been put out there to the fans.

I bet he doesn't get fined, the club won't play handball over a fee and he will leave and get a better contract elsewhere.

I'm getting a feeling of deja vu with this,

Four years ago we had the same sort of problem with Aiden McGeady.

Both players made great contributions on the field, provided great entertainment, ( to me at least), and improved the Team when they were in it.

It will be intertesting to see where Alex ends up.
IF, by any chance he joins Tony Mowbray, that would tend to show that Tony, at least, doesn't see him as a trouble maker.
And Tony is no fool.

I duspect that, as in the case of Aiden, the full story will wmerge in The Press in the not to distant future.

So if you are saying you know what's gone on and is the reason you're behind him let us all know what you have been told.

For all we know they may asked for a few grand a week more after the original offer was made.

I've seen loads of dodgy stories just off listening to Under the Cosh. The story Malcolm Christie told when he was signing for Derby from non league was shocking.

Hopefully it is the same with what happened after mcgeady left. We kicked on after he left because we had a young hungry team, lets hope its the same this time
