Gutted but have to say the club made me feel a huge sense of pride today. Staff players and the supporters did a great job and represented Saints with massive credit in a game we didn't deserve to lose. Well done all of you who were there!
Couldn't be prouder. Heads never dropped....which could have happened at 2-0 down to a team like United. We can beat anyone on our day....the lads just have to get out there and show it in the rest of the season. A great bunch of lads and a good management team.
Sorry, great comments / sentiments but not enough. Gotta be better at this level. Great free kick / unsuperb keeping ? And of course then 2-2 but .. ...
So, so, so close. An onside goal ruled out, hit the post... a misplaced pass, they broke, put the ball in and there was the truly world class player they have. It wasn't to be. But we gave them a bloody good run and that was an awesome day as a Saints fan. Disappointed? Yes, but we threw everything into that game.
We were better, by far the better team. But that Ibrahimovic, you may have heard of him, is quite a handy lad.
Did you watch a different match to the rest of us? How can you feel anything but pride after being the better side? Being the best on the day doesn't mean you will win the game but what more could those players have done, they were superb and I for one am so proud of each and every one of them, from the owner, chairman, directors, manager, coaches, players and fans, they gave their all and deserved more. So proud.
Seeing this made me so proud. I was a bit choked up to be honest, I love how respectful we are to the Liebherr's. please log in to view this image
Jeez,Gary I didn't agree with you during the game but you should have evened out by now. We played very well and were unlucky.Even the Sky peabrains had to admit we were better than them! Cheer up FFS.
If we had Gabbi at the beginning of the season, this season would be so much different. But seeing a team had a 25 mil bid for him turned down last summer he was out of our league anyway. Really looking forward to next season
Exactly! When you play a team who have genuine great players (ibrahimivic is an all time great) you need a bit of luck. Today we didn't get any. uh also it helps if your best players injured. If we'd won it would have been a phenomenal achievement, it was still a phenomenal performance in my book.
The Calgary Saints fans came out in force today, a good 20 or so at the pub. In all my years of supporting SouthamptonFC, I have never seen them play so bloody well for 90mins. The Saints where magnificent! And if it wasn't for Ibras clinical finishing, they would be celebrating with the cup right now. Yes I am gutted we didn't win, but so bloody proud of my football team, and fans. Let's hope, this will be the 1st of many trips to Wembley
There's a time and a place to be critical and this isn't it. Yes there were mistakes made but the players were literally inches away from pulling off one of the greatest cup final comebacks ever. I hope the players don't have any regrets tonight because they gave it everything they had and the only reason we didn't win is we didn't get the rub of the green.
Yep, so close. Imagine: Saints from 2-0 down to win 3-2, with a Gabbiadini hat-trick. My God. They did all they could and nobody should have any real regrets from that. They did us proud.
