Stan Collymore on Talksport: "Joe Allen has played very well pretty much running a one man midfield. No criticism of Steven Gerard because he has been there done that and got the T Shirt at PL level...but you have to question whether he has still got it at this level"

WTF

How can Allen having to run the midfield on his own because Gerard is a passenger warrant "no criticism". I hope they haven't worked out that they can't have Gerard in a two man central midfield away from home by February when they head down to St. Mary's

Yeah we did produce a lot of players before Lowe's academy initiative, but we had a very lean spell in between.

It was obvious when Lowe was interviewed about the academy's future prospects he didn't really know what he was talking about.

When you write YTS scheme it makes it read as very small beer. There was actually very little difference between the Youth System and the Academy. One difference was that during the YTS era, Saints got families, who were acceptable and willing, to take in the youngsters. During the Lowe/Academy era Saints had a house just of Hill Lane where all the youngsters stayed. Now it has gone back to acceptable and willing families.

And there may indeed have been a time during the 1990's when Saints went through a lean spell of youngsters. I put that down to Guy Askham's reign as Chair. The only thing he was interested in was how much he could line his pockets, and paying out for anything was going to make it less. Lowe was much better, ridiculous as that may read.
 
Haha Bolasie just make Lovren look like a complete mug

Should we be having a look at Bolasie if we are looking at wingers? Or does him being another player to lose to AFCON mean he is knocked a few places down a potential list

Not sure how Skrtl is still on the pitch
 
I never thought I would see Lovren become a crowd favourite with Saints fans again ..................................... :smiley-finger007:
