He looked like he was going to hit McCarthy. Did you see his face when he wouldn't let go of McCarthy's sleeve?

Very strange incident??? James McCarthy couldn't avoid knocking Pearson over, he showed great restraint not reacting after Pearson grabbed him by the throat and wouldn't let go of his shirt when he did get up???

I'm not actually worried by any of them, but ManU do sit there with the most points, so they are not exactly bog-awful.

What gets me is that I occasionally forget that we had a slipup in December, and wonder how the teams below can be so close when we've been playing a blinder all season and they've been so-so.

    Then I remember.

Fair enough, bog-awful is stretching it, but I don't especially rate them this season. I think Arsenal, Spurs and even Liverpool are better teams right now (emphasis on the word 'team').

Well, yes it's possible that they are running into better form. But they're all hiccoughing like mad. Spurs are emerging as the main ones to be concerned about at the moment. Last couple of weeks it was Arsenal. Liverpool are a fair way back. If they come into the mix, then the ones above them have lost form, even if they win practically every game.

Do remember that, including the result against Swansea, Saints are in better league form than all of those [we match Spurs], and we are going through somewhat of a dip in form, goal wise. That puts things into a little more perspective, perhaps.

Good point. I'm still adjusting to the idea that yes, we really are actually quite good!

I too don't rate them. But the fact is after 24 games, they're 4th in the PL, just five points behind 2nd. They are the 4th highest scorers in the league, and have the 3rd best defensive record in the league. And they have only lost twice in all competitions since 21 September, having played 21 matches since then.

As poor as they are, and as little as we rate them, they can't be ignored. By hook or by crook, they are managing to get results. And we're in February now. If they've been able to do that for this long, I don't see why they can't do it for another three months.

I can't buy into this "Man Utd will stop getting lucky at the some point", just like I can't buy into "Eriksen and Kane will stop getting late winners for Spurs at some point". Both have happened too often now for me to be relaxed and believe that this will all stop.

Must admit that before I made that bold statement on form I did go off and check. And we really are.:smiley-finger007:

We'll find out whether Man Utd is good, bad or indifferent soon enough, when their comparatively easy stretch of games gives way to the brutal finishing kick. Their biggest concern has to be their away record; while draws away against mid-table sides aren't the worst result, when you draw seemingly all of them it's rather less than ideal, and they have two more such matches in their next four. Said previous, but if they aren't a few points clear of fifth after the Newcastle match on the 4th of March, it will take a rich vein of form to qualify for CL...they need 10 points or more from their next four, really.
