It shouldn't mean anything to me, but I'm sort of glad he has. Perhaps it's something to do with people signing contracts rather than going elsewhere ;)

Or maybe it's hoping he'd play in their back line against us and having either Pelle totally dominate them or Long and Co race past them. :)

He says he will make Aston Villa the biggest Prem team in China.

Aston Villa will name their manager shortly. Probably Warnock.

Could not agree more. Done a little research, and if I were a Villa fan, I would be rather concerned. Frying pan, fire springs to mind.

Well he's a bit behind the times, what with all the spending going on in China now, and rapid development of their own footballing 'brands'

When I heard him say that last night my thoughts were that he was just trying to defend his old team rather than saying the truth. Oddly, having played for ManU, you would have have thought he might have remembered them. Mind you, is any Liverpool player up to their required standard anyway.? Coutinho and Sturridge probably.

So, on that basis, I heard a rumour that Coutinho and Sturridge want away to a bigger club with European football. ManU was mentioned.

I have some sympathy with Owen, as I have exactly the same problem but in reverse; In my daily life I find myself saying "historically successful" when I mean to say 'big.' The outcomes are similarly embarrassing/amusing.

4th most successful club in England. I know it's surprising, but it's true. They have 7 League titles, 7 FA Cups, 5 League Cups and 1 European Cup [Champions League]. The most recent trophy was won over 30+ years ago. Just long enough ago for a young kid to fall in love with them and grow up to become a billionaire, and buy them.

Someone has worked out the PL standings if Mark Lawrenson's predictions were right and compared it to the final table. In this topsy turvy season, it is hardly surprising he was way out on some. Strangely, he was most accurate with us....6th with 66 points v 6th with 63 points. Of course, he may not have got individual results right and, as the season progressed, he had team form to judge by.
