I prefer my security people to be just a tad more professional......but I am rather picky.

Seems strange to me that when it was reported there was an incident, even if not publicly initially, that no-one said 'hold on a moment, isn't that the same thing they were doing the other day down there....shall we just check with them if they're missing any?'

However despite the criticism they seem to be getting, the police and stewards response if anything reassures me that football security is pretty good and that they have a calm and efficient way of dealing with a potential situation....plus are quite happy to do whatever is needed regardless of whether it upsets the Premier League.

Manager of the Season shortlist: Claudio Ranieri, Mauricio Pochettino, Eddie Howe, Slaven Bilić.

    Winner: Claudio Ranieri

    Bilić over Koeman.......?

Saints big club. Expected. WHU 12th last season. Bilic is good enough to manage at a big club.

Obviously dragging West Ham to 7th is far harder than leading Saints to 6th. :)

I'm assuming they voted a while back, because Koeman not getting a mention is criminal.

MotY tends to be a little overly focused on year-to-year improvement; Koeman doesn't get a sniff because he only improved slightly on last year's results. It's a bit silly; isn't consistent overachievement the goal?

That's assuming that everyone expects Saints to be staggering around the relegation zone but for the supreme efforts of Koeman's management. Koeman and his staff did really well, but I think there's a level of expectation now. Perhaps that's why he wasn't considered.

Bilic would be an excellent choice for Man Utd or Arsenal.

    Or Everton.

    http://www.teamtalk.com/news/revealed-how-many-times-your-side-took-top-billing-on-motd

Article about how often teams were in top billing on MOTD. As expected top billing was related to number of goals and League position. Contrary to our opinion Stoke were most often last. Love Mark Hughes put down comment....doesn't matter because most people watch other footballing programmes. Saints not mentioned at all in the text so we must assume that we are middling.

    http://www.skysports.com/football/n...-grades-danny-higginbotham-offers-his-verdict

Danny Higginbottom's grading of managers. At first, I thought...what Koeman only got a B, then I looked at what Danny has done and I agree with him. Ranieri and Poch...top marks because they achieved more than expected. Next, Allardyce (kept Sunderland up) and Howe (kept them above the relegation zone and let others fight it out). He marked down managers in teams that should have done better (Chelsea, Liverpool, United). Also Wenger...mmm, 2nd not good enough apparently. So Koeman got a B....I think this reflects that we are a good team and top 6 not a total surprise....despite another record breaking season. Ron would need to get us into top 4 (so close) to get an A rating. All in all, I think Danny has got it right.

Watch and listen to The True Geordie's rant over Newcastle United's relegation. First up, I should warn you that it is absolutely NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK and anyone who is put off by excessive swearing ought to give this one a miss. But rarely have I come across someone who so confidently expresses himself amidst a fit of blinding anger. This guy was almost bursting with it. Anyway, take note of the warning and watch someone who must have a future in the media somewhere. If he doesn't have a heart attack first:

And just to show that he has a talent for seeing the exceptionally good. Here's his assessment of Leicester City:

Yep, he could manage at a big club one day.

Saw some comments from Eddie Howe, along the lines it will be hard to lift his players for tonight's game, after Sunday's farce.
I hope he is underplaying his hand and that they will be well up for it.
Hopefully a Bompey win will be the, ahem, cherry on the icing, on our cake.

If he can't lift the players before their first ever league match at Old Trafford then something is seriously wrong!

According to Sky, Mourinho told that United job is his if Van Gaal leaves in the summer. If true, sounds like United are trying to get LVG to walk rather than sack him. I know we all sneer at Van Gaal, but that is a disrespectful way to treat a manager....you back him or sack him...you don't undermine him.

United not really resting any players tonight. Going for that 19-0 win to overtake City, I guess.
